" Our organization provides services designed to help members of our community achieve their individual goals. MPNN BH has over 60 distinct programs to aid and support all ages and many situations. Job Summary The Community Support Specialist provides community-based Mental Health Skill-Building (MHSB) services in accordance with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) regulations and Medicaid requirements. Services are provided to adults with serious mental illness residing throughout Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Behavioral Health's rural ten-county catchment area. Services are delivered using a person-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed approach. Job Responsibilities Provide individualized, goal-directed Mental Health Skill-Building services in natural community settings, including individuals' homes. Deliver services based on individualized service plans developed through a person-centered planning process. Utilize trauma-informed practices that promote safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. Assist individuals in developing, restoring, or maintaining skills related to daily living, emotional regulation, communication, time management, and community integration. Support individuals in strengthening skills that reduce psychiatric symptoms and promote stability, independence, and recovery. Coordinate and collaborate with case managers, psychosocial rehabilitation programs, and other service providers to ensure continuity of care. Accurately complete required documentation in compliance with DBHDS regulations, Medicaid billing standards, and agency policies. Participate in supervision, interdisciplinary team meetings, and required trainings. Demonstrate flexibility to meet the demands of rural, community-based service delivery. Must generate 22 Mental Health Skill-Building units weekly. Complete other duties as assigned Job Requirements Essential Must pass all required Background Checks. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with reliable transportation and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as permitted by DBHDS. Experience providing services to adults with serious mental illness preferred. Ability to meet DBHDS credentialing and Medicaid provider requirements. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout a rural ten-county service area.
