Job Description
Overview The current director of Precious Lambs Childcare and Preschool is retiring which means we are looking to hire a full-time director for our childcare center. Our center is licensed for 50 children, ages birth through 5 years old, and is open Monday-Friday, 6:30am - 5:30pm. A qualified candidate must have a love and enjoyment for children and be willing to interact with them and care for their needs. Precious Lambs is a Christian daycare that is a ministry of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Applicants must share the same Biblical values and Christian world view. The Director position duties include, but is not limited to the following: Ensure the overall well-being of children Establish healthy, safe, and developmentally appropriate practices Hire and maintain competent staff and provide for their professional development Be sure each room is staffed properly to have the correct staff/child ratios Always maintain DHS licensing standards or higher Set appropriate expectations for staff Maintain clear communication with parents Oversee billing and the collection of funds through Childcare Assistance and private pay methods Assist teachers and staff with their curriculum When necessary, be willing to step into a classroom and provide care for the children in the event of the absence of a staff member Oversee the kitchen staff to ensure that meals meet proper nutritional standards Work closely with the Pastor/president to ensure that the center maintains a Christian environment and has Bible based learning Qualifications of the Director position are set by the Iowa DHS as follows: Is at least 21 years of age. Passed an extensive background check Has a high school diploma or passed a general education development test. Has completed at least one course in business administration or 12 contact hours in administrative-related training related to personnel, supervision, record keeping, or budgeting or has one year of administrative-related experience. Has certification in infant, child, and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and Iowa's training for the mandatory reporting of child abuse. Has achieved a total of 100 points obtained through a combination of education, experience, and child development-related training as outlined below.
QUALIFICATION POINT SYSTEM
(YOUMUST SCORE 100PTS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR POSITION
) In obtaining a total of 100 points, a minimum of two categories must be used, no more than 75 points may be achieved in any one category, and at least 20 points shall be obtained from the experience category.CHILD DEVELOPMENT RELATED TRAINING

(75) Bachelor's or higher degree in early childhood, child development, or elementary (60) Associate's degree in child development or bachelor's degree in a child-related field (45) Child development associate (CDA) or one-year diploma in child development from a community college or technical school (40) Bachelor's degree or higher in a non-child-related field (25) Associate's degree in a non-child-related field or completion of at least two years of a four year degreeEXPERIENCE
(Points multiplied by years of experience) (25) Full-time (20 hours or more per week) in a childcare center or preschool setting (10) Part-time (less than 20 hours per week) in a childcare center or preschool setting (10) Full-time (20 hours or more per week) child development related experience (5) Part-time (less than 20 hours per week) child development related experience (10) Registered child development home provider (5) Non-registered family home provider Approval by DHS is part of the hiring process and must be obtained before a candidate can be hired.
