Full Job Description Description:
A warm, collaborative family in Springfield, IL, is seeking a full-time live-out nanny for their 2-year-old, along with newborn support after welcoming a new baby in October. The family values calm communication, emotional steadiness, flexibility, professionalism, and a peaceful home environment with a balanced daily rhythm. The primary focus of the role will be attentive, loving, developmentally appropriate toddler care that supports both engagement and independent play. This is not a constant entertainment-focused position; the family values a calm, grounded approach that respects the natural flow of the day and encourages growing independence. The mother will be home full-time with the newborn initially, though the nanny will provide regular collaborative newborn support throughout the day as needed. This may include helping with bathing, holding the baby while Mom takes a break or spends one-on-one time with the toddler, and assisting with simple caregiving tasks as part of the daily household rhythm. During quieter periods such as naps or independent play, the nanny will also assist with light household support related to maintaining an organized and functional home environment. Responsibilities may include kitchen cleanup, family laundry, changing bedding, tidying shared/common areas, snack and simple meal preparation, occasional errands, and limited pet care, as workflow and daily needs allow. The role also includes occasional family travel support as discussed and planned. While the initial role will focus primarily on toddler care alongside collaborative newborn support, the position may gradually transition to more independent care for both children over time as the children grow and the mother transitions toward a more work-focused schedule from home.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, organized, and emotionally steady, with strong communication skills, healthy boundaries, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. The family is seeking someone adaptable yet professional who enjoys working in a warm, collaborative household environment and is interested in building a long-term relationship with the family as their needs evolve.
Responsibilities:
  • Loving, attentive care for a toddler
  • Collaborative newborn support alongside Mom during maternity leave.
  • Supporting age-appropriate play, routines, outings, and activities
  • Comfortable transporting children to outings and activities using a family vehicle when available
  • Encouraging independent play and calm daily rhythms
  • Children's laundry and household laundry as time permits
  • Changing bedding and helping maintain organized shared spaces
  • Snack and simple meal prep
  • Kitchen cleanup and general tidying related to the day's activities
  • Occasional errands
  • Occasional family travel support as discussed and planned
  • Limited pet care for two dogs and two cats
Schedule:
Generally Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, with some flexibility in scheduling as the family's needs evolve after welcoming the new baby. Occasional overtime will be needed, with scheduling discussed and agreed upon in advance whenever possible.
Pets:
2 cats and 2 dogs
Compensation :
$880-$1,000+/week depending on experience and fit
Benefits:
Health insurance stipend, paid major holidays, paid vacation, and sick leave
Start Date:
ASAP or September Qualifications:
Professional experience caring for newborns through school-age children, with verifiable references from families or childcare centers (excluding friends, family, or coworkers).
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Benefits:
Health insurance Relocation assistance
Work Location:
