Family & Position:
This loving and warmhearted bilingual family is seeking a dedicated long-term full-time nanny to support their two young children and help create a calm, structured, and engaging rhythm to each day. The family values connection, emotional awareness, consistency, and raising kind, respectful children within a warm home environment. The family is seeking someone who brings both hands-on childcare expertise and a creative, proactive mindset — someone who is equally comfortable leading an outdoor adventure with the kids and spending focused time during school hours preparing enriching crafts, educational materials, and activities for the afternoon ahead. Parents are bilingual in Portuguese and English and place value on language exposure and cultural connection within the home. Their priority is to find a long-term nanny for years to come who brings warmth, professionalism, strong emotional intelligence, and genuine investment in each child's growth and development. About the
Children & Childcare Philosophy:
The family's caregiving approach is centered on structure, emotional safety, movement, and active engagement. They believe children thrive when expectations are clear, routines are consistent, and adults respond with calm leadership and warmth. Their oldest child, age 6, has an autism diagnosis and benefits greatly from a caregiver who understands how to create a supportive environment. She thrives with proactive guidance, smooth transitions, and movement integrated throughout the day — including outdoor play, scooter rides, playground time, and backyard activities. During colder months or poor weather, she continues to need high levels of movement through intentional indoor activities such as obstacle courses, sensory play, and structured physical engagement. She may need additional time and space to regulate when frustrated or disappointed, and responds best to a caregiver who remains calm, flexible, and emotionally attuned. Visual cues and clear communication are helpful tools. Their younger child, age 4, is affectionate, playful, and active. He thrives in a similarly structured environment that also allows for independence, creativity, and sibling connection. He responds well to encouragement, warmth, and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Morning Hours (while children are at school): Plan and prepare age-appropriate craft projects, sensory activities, and educational materials for afternoon use Organize children's spaces, supplies, and activity areas Complete light child-related household tasks (laundry, meal prep, snack preparation) Prepare children's items for the following day (lunchboxes, backpacks, school items) Afternoon Hours (after school pick-up): Manage afternoon school pick-ups and support smooth transitions from school to home Allow for decompression and reset time before transitioning into activities Lead engaging, movement-based outdoor and indoor activities Facilitate prepared craft projects and educational enrichment activities Escort children to weekly swimming lessons (mileage reimbursement provided) Support homework completion and serve as a positive homework assistant Prepare healthy after-school snacks and light dinner for the children Support emotional regulation, particularly for the oldest child, using calm, proactive, and consistent strategies Anticipate and manage transitions throughout the afternoon to reduce overwhelm and support predictability Collaborate closely with parents on routines, communication, and daily updates
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
3-5+ years of childcare experience, with a minimum of 1 year of professional nanny experience Prior experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, sensory needs, or special needs strongly preferred Creative and resourceful — genuinely enjoys planning and preparing enriching activities, not just executing them Own reliable vehicle with valid insurance (mileage reimbursement provided) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain prior to start) Fluent in English; Portuguese-speaking skills a plus Must be at least 21 years old Non-smoker Fully vaccinated Authorized to work in the United States Willing to complete comprehensive background and reference checks Strong, verifiable professional childcare references Seeking a long-term, committed placement Local to Indianapolis / Westfield area or within reasonable commuting distance A Note on the
Role:
The morning hours — while the children are at school — are an intentional and valued part of this position. The family is looking for a nanny who sees that time as an opportunity to show up creatively: researching activities, prepping materials, and designing an afternoon that feels thoughtful and purposeful for both children. This is not a passive role. It's a full investment in two kids who deserve an engaged, prepared, and genuinely enthusiastic caregiver every single day.
