GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, the Child Care Early Learning Coordinator is assigned administrative tasks to support the day-to-day operations of a
YMCA ELC
program and serves as a classroom sub, filling in for scheduled and unscheduled staff leave and interim positions when there are staff vacancies. The coordinator provides support and leadership to the ELC team and assumes the role of director on duty (DOD) when the Program Director is not on site. The hours of the positions are flexible to meet the needs of the program and may change with enrollment and attendance.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum age of 21 Must have High School diploma or equivalent; CDA or AA Preferred Must meet KDHE qualifications for a facility with a capacity of 24 or more (KAR 28-4-429(c)(3)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful employee will demonstrate individual competence in the following areas: Ability to teach, lead and coach staff Skilled at effective communication, both orally and in writing Knowledge and experience implementing developmentally appropriate experiences for children birth - PreK Ability to work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by example Effectively respond to questions from employees, directors, parents, and other entities in a timely manner Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Must be able to routinely perform the following moderate physical activities; climb, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity Must demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment, motivation, and desire to work with all ages, especially youth Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner Must always present a neat and professional appearance
Job Requirements:
Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision, and values Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire Complete Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid, KDHE Health History, Site Orientation, and other mandatory trainings in accordance with Conditions of Employment Maintain a minimum of 16 hours of KDHE approved training Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch as necessary Understand and abide by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch, including occasional weekends and evening
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Development:
Develop and maintain personal relationships that inspire trust and confidence 2. Report on all performance issues as they arise to your Program Director 3. Contribute to end of season reviews for classroom staff 4. Assist and guide staff to support positive behavior management and staff/child relationships 5. Regularly guide and training front line staff; does not hire or fire
Program Operations:
1. Effectively communicate the mission, vision, and values of the Wichita YMCA 2. Ensuring program compliance with YMCA and KDHE standards and regulations through daily monitoring, regular check in and observations in the classrooms and follow through of all compliance issues in a timely manner 3. Guide and support site staff to apply department policies and procedures respectfully when responding and/or redirecting staff and youth 4. Respond quickly and effectively to accidents and incidents 5. Assist in the conduction of investigations as may be required or requested by association or branch leadership, and accurately prepare and submit documentation and incident reports in a timely manner 6. Child Abuse Prevention - Responsible for screening for abuse risk, providing ongoing supervision and training, offering regular feedback on boundaries, enforcing policies and procedures, responding promptly to violations, taking reports seriously and confidentially, following mandated reporting, communicating the organization's commitment to child abuse prevention. 7. Monitor and help with site inventory and supply requests, shop for the program as needed and directed
Fiscal Management:
1. Maintain clean and organized storage of equipment and materials to prevent loss
Strong Community Campaign:
1. Provide leadership for assigned aspects of Strong Community Campaign, special events and other fund development to ensure fundraising, personal and program goals are met 2. Engage and actively participate in annual campaign, including but not limited to solicitation of donations to meet individual assigned goals, donations for events and fundraising activities, and facilitation of impact tours
Facilities Development:
1. Maintain the program area and equipment in an orderly manner, clean, and safe condition; report any irregularities to maintenance personnel and
Program Director Other:
1. Attend applicable training and conferences to further professional development As part of the Child Care leadership team, maintain accountability for the extent that sites meet or exceed quality and satisfaction targets as evidenced by the participant and staff survey All other duties as assigned
EFFECT ON END RESULT
Ensuring leadership/guidance is provided and achievement of goals and objectives of the Association and Branch result in high levels of participation, satisfaction and retention of participants and employees.
