The ideal candidate is passionate about working directly with children, stays actively engaged on the classroom floor, and creates a safe, structured, and positive environment for children of all abilities and behavior needs. This position requires flexibility, patience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced childcare setting. Key Responsibilities Remain actively engaged with children throughout the shift through play, supervision, learning activities, and relationship-building. Spend the majority of the shift on the classroom floor interacting with children rather than remaining seated or disengaged. Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children of varying ages, personalities, and developmental needs. Support children with challenging behaviors, emotional regulation difficulties, or diagnosed behavioral/developmental conditions using patience and appropriate guidance techniques. Maintain professionalism and composure in high-energy or high-pressure situations. Follow classroom schedules, center policies, safety procedures, and licensing requirements at all times. Assist with classroom management, transitions, meals/snacks, bathroom routines, homework help, and evening activities. Communicate respectfully and effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and families. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment. Be dependable, punctual, and willing to assist where needed within the center. Adapt to changing classroom needs, staffing adjustments, and schedule flexibility when necessary. Qualifications Experience working with children in a childcare, school, camp, or related setting preferred. Ability to actively supervise and engage with children for extended periods of time. Comfortable working with children who may display challenging behaviors or require additional behavioral support. Strong patience, teamwork, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure. Flexible availability for second shift scheduling. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance. CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Must pass all required background checks and meet state childcare licensing requirements. Preferred Qualities Positive attitude and strong work ethic. High energy and ability to interact enthusiastically with children. Ability to redirect behaviors calmly and effectively. Dependable team player willing to step in and help where needed. Strong communication and observation skills. Passion for helping children learn, grow, and feel supported. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and actively participate in classroom activities throughout the shift. Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors. Ability to respond quickly in emergency or behavioral situations. Schedule Primarily second shift/evening hours. Flexibility in scheduling preferred, including occasional weekend shifts. This position involves working in a fast-paced childcare environment with active children, varying activity levels, noise, and frequent movement throughout the day. Staff must be able to remain attentive, engaged, and professional while supporting children with diverse emotional and behavioral needs.
