Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY A
well-established childcare center in Hanover Township, NJ, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Center Director to oversee all aspects of daily operations. This individual will provide leadership and guidance to staff, ensure compliance with state regulations, and manage both the full-day childcare program and the Before and After School Care program located on-site. The ideal candidate is an organized, energetic professional with exceptional communication and leadership skills, committed to maintaining a positive and nurturing environment for children, families, and staff.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct supervision, leadership, and support to all center and Before/After School Program staff. Manage daily staffing schedules and ensure appropriate classroom coverage. Ensure full compliance with all New Jersey State childcare licensing regulations and organizational policies. Maintain an organized, clean, and tour-ready facility at all times. Oversee accurate and confidential record-keeping for staff and children. Enforce and model adherence to all policies, procedures, and professional standards. Plan and coordinate center-wide activities including staff meetings, training sessions, open houses, and family/community engagement events. Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified candidates; support ongoing staff development and performance management. Ensure readiness for and successful completion of all required state and local inspections. Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children and staff. Demonstrate the ability to step into classroom or administrative roles as needed to ensure program continuity. Foster strong, trusting relationships with families, staff, and community partners. Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all interactions and communications.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related child development field (required). Meets all New Jersey State licensing requirements for the position of Director. Familiarity with NAEYC Accreditation standards, NJ Grow, and related state initiatives preferred. Maintains all required state and professional certifications. Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities within an early childhood setting. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with professionalism and composure. Proficient in technology, including Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software Committed to building positive relationships with families, staff, and the community.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Competitive salary range: $50,000-$60,000 , commensurate with experience. Comprehensive medical and dental insurance. Paid time off and sick days. Additional benefits to be discussed during the interview process.
