Child Care Supervisor Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children - 3.4 Paterson, NJ Job Details Temporary | Part-time $25 an hour 7 hours ago Qualifications Spanish Interpersonal skills Program development English Bachelor's degree Full Job Description Oasis - a Haven for Women and Children is a nonprofit 501 (C) (3) organization located in Paterson, New Jersey. We carry out educational and social services programs that help local women enter and succeed in the workforce and help children flourish academically. We also operate a soup kitchen and provide emergency food, clothing, and social support to city residents in need. Overview The Child Care Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the center, ensuring that the program meets the highest standards of quality for all children under their care. The employee will foster a positive, developmentally appropriate learning environment, ensuring both the safety and well-being of the children. Additionally, they will supervise and mentor assistants, provide training, and perform other related duties as required. Key Responsibilities -
Center Operations and Supervision:
Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment in accordance with program standards and regulations. Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained to support child supervision, safety, and compliance requirements. Build and maintain positive relationships with parents through ongoing communication regarding children's development, progress, and daily activities. Provide daily updates and address parent questions or concerns regarding program procedures and child development. Monitor and support children's emotional, social, and developmental growth through positive guidance and engagement. Observe and supervise children during classroom, recreational, and play activities to ensure safety and appropriate participation. Plan and facilitate age-appropriate educational and recreational activities, including reading, arts and crafts, music, and physical activities. Support classroom operations by organizing materials, maintaining inventory, and replacing damaged or missing items as needed. Maintain accurate records and documentation, including attendance, incident reports, emergency forms, and required program paperwork. Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure emergency procedures, attendance tracking, and headcounts are consistently followed. Report suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect in accordance with mandated reporting requirements and center policies. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and center operations at all times. Supervise and support assistants, aides, and volunteers to ensure adherence to center policies and quality standards. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities to remain informed of program updates and best practices. Assist with daily childcare responsibilities, including diaper changes, dressing assistance, sanitization of toys/equipment, and other duties assigned by management.QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience. 2. Current CDA credential/license required. 3. Bilingual in Spanish or Arabic, in addition to English, preferred but not required. 4. Self-motivated, hands-on professional with a positive and proactive work ethic. 5. Experience planning, developing, and implementing educational programs for children ages 3 months to 2 years. 6. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities, demonstrating tact, maturity, and flexibility. 7. Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships and collaborate effectively within a team environment. 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information and concepts to individuals at all levels.Required of All Employees:
1. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. 2. Must have no history of child abuse or neglect. 3. Fingerprinting is required (Oasis will direct the new hire to the appropriate agency). 4.
