8 year old and 5 year old girls in UWS Overview This Upper West Side family is looking for a warm, engaging, and proactive part-time sitter to support their two daughters after school a few afternoons each week. The family previously had a long-term full-time nanny and is now looking for someone part-time who can become a trusted and consistent presence in the girls' lives. The role includes school pickup, helping coordinate activities, encouraging active play, supporting evening routines, and assisting with light household tasks related to the children. The Ideal Candidate for this Job You are an energetic, thoughtful, and dependable sitter who genuinely enjoys engaging with school-aged children. You're excited by imaginative conversations, creative projects, books, outdoor play, and helping kids stay active after a long school day. You're comfortable partnering with a very hands-on parent and balancing childcare responsibilities with light tidying, dishes, and helping keep the household running smoothly. Schedule Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons, 3 P.M. - 7 P.M. •Flexibility with the schedule would be appreciated •Occasional date nights with enough notice. About the Children 8 year old, girl: She is bright, thoughtful, and loves reading so much that her mom recently got her a Kindle because she was carrying around too many books. She enjoys taekwondo, music, writing, drawing, and imaginative projects. She can be a little shy at first, but becomes very chatty once comfortable. She also loves talking about Greek mythology and creative storytelling! 5 year old, girl: She is outgoing, social, and quick to make friends. She loves gymnastics, imaginative play, arts and crafts, and creating projects with her sister. She's energetic, warm, and enjoys lots of interaction and play. Both girls are described as very warm, chatty, and creative. They love writing, drawing, making crafts, and spending time outdoors in Central Park, scootering, playing on swings, and visiting playgrounds. They have no medical needs or food allergies, though both experience seasonal hay fever managed with allergy medication. Responsibilities Responsibilities include school pickup on certain afternoons, helping coordinate activities and transitions, preparing snacks, supporting evening routines like showers and tidying up, and keeping the children active and engaged after school. The sitter may sometimes partner with Mom to divide responsibilities between the two girls and may occasionally provide evening or weekend care for date nights. The family would also appreciate help with light household tasks, including dishes, making beds, light tidying, and maintaining children's spaces. Additional Information The family lives very close to Central Park and regularly walks through the park to and from school and activities. The position will begin on payroll through GTM at a starting rate of $30/hour.
