The family is currently hiring for 1:1 assistance for a 10 year old female diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 and epilepsy. She LOVES telling jokes, playing card games, showing off her skills, arts and crafts, and going out into the community. She is always up for a game of UNO or Connect 4 and would love to learn additional games. She is active in her school community and would love the opportunity to take more classes around Grove City. This job does require taking her out into the community either in your own transportation using a manual wheelchair or using Grove City COTA with her power wheelchair. Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a degenerative muscle disorder that causes muscle weakness throughout the body. She does require the use a wheelchair. Applicants must be able to lift and carry at least 75 pounds to help aid in transfers and daily living skills such as lifting on and off the toilet and showering. Currently her Epilepsy is pretty well controlled, but the applicant must be comfortable administering emergency medication if needed, and remaining calm in an emergency. Currently the family is hiring for Sunday 10:00am-5pm, Wednesdays 3pm-700pm, and Fridays 300pm-700pm. Additional hours are available at times and especially during holidays, school days off, etc. This job is paid by PDP and applicants MUST be able to pass a background check that includes testing for THC (even if you have a medical card, you cannot be hired for the position if you test positive).
