SUMMARY:
The Childcare Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, administration, and educational programs of the childcare center. This position ensures a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children while maintaining compliance with all state licensing regulations and organizational policies. The Childcare Director supervises staff, manages enrollment, communicates with families, and promotes a positive and supportive learning environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but is not limited to the following: Job Specific Oversee the daily operations of the childcare center to ensure a safe, clean, and engaging environment for children and staff. Develop, implement, and monitor age-appropriate educational programs and activities that support child development and school readiness. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal childcare licensing regulations and safety standards. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate childcare staff and volunteers. Maintain staff schedules and ensure appropriate child-to-staff ratios are met at all times. Foster positive relationships and effective communication with parents, guardians, and community partners. Address parent concerns, incidents, and disciplinary matters professionally and promptly. Manage enrollment, attendance records, child files, and other administrative documentation. Prepare and manage budgets, purchasing, and operational expenses as assigned. Conduct regular staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and properly maintained. Monitor children's progress and support staff in implementing individualized learning strategies when needed. Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally respectful environment for all children and families. Coordinate emergency preparedness procedures and ensure staff are trained in health and safety protocols. Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to enhance childcare services and family support programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education or a related field (preferred) Director's Credential or approved Director Training through the state childcare licensing authority (required) CPR and First Aid Certification (required) Safe Sleep Training for infant care programs (required) Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in childcare or early childhood education, including supervisory experience. Knowledge of childcare licensing requirements and child development principles.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and oversees the education, administration and assigned departments accordingly.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Monitors and ensures compliance with organization policies, procedures, state, and federal regulations.
