Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Child Care Director to lead and oversee our early childhood education programs. In this vital role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for children of various ages, from infants to preschoolers. Your leadership will ensure that all aspects of childcare, from classroom management to developmental activities, align with best practices in childhood development and early education standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young lives while fostering a collaborative team environment dedicated to excellence in childcare. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive curriculum plans that promote early childhood development, including preschool, toddler care, and infant care programs. Supervise and mentor teaching staff, ensuring high-quality classroom experience through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies. Oversee daily operations of the daycare or childcare center, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and safety standards. Coordinate staff schedules, conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate ongoing professional development in areas such as special education and working with individuals with disabilities. Foster strong relationships with families by communicating regularly about their children's progress and addressing any concerns promptly. Ensure all staff hold current certifications in first aid, CPR, and other relevant safety training. Manage enrollment processes, maintain accurate records of attendance, developmental assessments, and incident reports. Promote a positive, inclusive environment that supports working with children of diverse backgrounds and needs. Qualifications Must meet SD DSS Director requirements Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices. Prior classroom experience in daycare or preschool settings with demonstrated classroom management skills. Certification in first aid and CPR (or willing to obtain) Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members effectively. Ability to lead a team through coaching, training, and behavior management techniques. Experience with caregiving roles such as nannying or babysitting is beneficial but not required. A dedicated approach to creating a safe, nurturing environment that encourages learning through play and exploration.
