JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Part Time Floater Childcare Providers to support the developmental and emotional needs of children in a nurturing environment. This role involves caring for children across various age groups — including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers — ensuring their safety, engagement, and growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and experience working with children with diverse needs. Floaters must be flexible and willing to travel between all three De Colores Child Development Center locations to fill child-to-teacher ratios as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Permits & Certifications Candidates must successfully complete and maintain ALL of the following (renewals required every two years by expiration date): Food Handlers Permit — must state ANSI on the certificate; renewed every two (2) years. First Aid Certification — Adult/Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED; renewed every two (2) years. CPR Infant/Toddler Certification — Adult/Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED; renewed every two (2) years. Background Check completed through TDFPS. High School Diploma or GED. Education & Experience Candidates must meet ONE of the following pathways:
Option A:
At least 2 years of experience in the Early Childhood Field. Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
Option B:
Associate, Baccalaureate, or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with experience teaching preschool-aged children. If the degree is in another field, the candidate must be willing to obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) and work toward a degree in Early Childhood Education within 90 days of hire.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains open lines of communication with immediate supervisor, subordinates, parents, and volunteers. Assists the lead teacher in creating lesson plans and implementing a curriculum that is age
Has classroom materials ready at all times. Documents children's files daily including class attendance, nutrition, health, and behavior monitoring. Reinforces classroom and environmental safety. Involves parents in educational activities to enhance their role as the primary influence on the child's education and development. Provides materials appropriate to the child's age and level of development. Serves the cultural background of children using classroom materials, activities, and related languages. Promotes high self-esteem, serves as a positive role model, and follows the center's behavior management system and code of ethics. Adheres to CCR Minimum Standards and Texas Rising Star Policies and Procedures. Attends morning inspections — keeping children clean and well-groomed, serving meals and snacks, preparing for nap/rest time, and assisting with toilet training. Participates in the annual center assessments. Participates in Pre-Service training once a year and ongoing in-service workshops as required by the program. Maintains an adequate supply of materials at the center. Helps all childcare providers assemble monthly thematic bulletin boards in classrooms. Attends cluster meetings, parent meetings, and workshops. Works at De Colores Child Development Center ceremonies and various social events. Must be able to travel to all three locations when needed to fill child-to-teacher ratios. Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or Director. SKILLS Experience working with children across different age groups including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development stages. First Aid and CPR certification is highly desirable. Ability to work effectively with children with disabilities or special needs. Strong classroom or daycare background preferred. Excellent caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and adaptability. Experience in babysitting, nannying, or classroom settings is advantageous. Effective behavior management skills to foster a positive environment. Ability to communicate clearly with parents and team members regarding children's needs and progress. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
COMPENSATION
Pay rate is based on experience and credentials: Qualification Level Pay Rate No childcare experience — Will Train $10.00/hr More than 6 months of childcare experience (with or without trainings) $10.50/hr 2+ years childcare experience with 24+ hours of up-to-date childcare trainings $11.50+/hr CDA and more than 2 years of childcare experience $15.50/hr AA in Early Childhood Education with up to 24 hours of childcare trainings and more than 2 years of childcare experience $16.00/hr AA in ECD or AA in another major with CDA, or BA in another major and more than 2 years of childcare experience $17.00/hr
