One-year initial term, extendable; two paid trial weeks up front We're a Tacoma family with two demanding work-from-home careers, an infant daughter, and a household we need to run efficiently. We're looking for a long-term nanny and family assistant to provide engaged, attentive care for our daughter and help keep the day-to-day moving smoothly. We work hard, and we're hoping to find someone who takes the same pride in their work —someone who'll grow into a genuine part of our family over time. If you love kids, value a well-run home, and want a meaningful long-term position with a family that will invest in you in return, read on. Who we are We're a busy, active Tacoma family who loves spending time outdoors. Both of us work from home, and our days revolve around our daughter (born December 2025), our two cats, and a small flock of chickens. We cook a lot, value warmth and a sense of humor, and prize competence in the people we share our days with. We're hoping to build a long-term relationship with the right person — someone who'll become a genuine part of our family rhythm. Who we're hoping to find Someone who wants to invest — in our daughter, in our home, and in this relationship. The right person is engaged and present with our daughter in a way that goes beyond basic care: they bring fresh ideas for play, find moments to nurture her curiosity and development, and treat her growth as something they're actively part of. They also want to be the kind of person who looks around the house, sees what needs doing, and quietly moves things forward — a true second set of hands and, over time, a second brain for the head of the household. Long-term, this person becomes part of how our family functions day to day. You don't need professional childcare experience, but you should have meaningful experience with children in some capacity — siblings, nieces and nephews, babysitting, volunteer work, classroom support, your own kids. What matters most is a genuine desire to engage with kids and a natural instinct for connecting with them. Key qualities we value Proactive and organized — you see what needs doing before being asked, and follow throughStrong communicator — comfortable raising things openly, including when something isn't working Self-sufficient — confident running your own day without needing direction Warm and patient — with our daughter, our animals, and us Curious and engaged — bringing energy and ideas into the home, not just executing tasks Discreet — respectful of our family's privacy What the day-to-day looks like Childcare & family support Engaged, attentive care for our daughter during your hours, supporting us when work pulls our focus Bringing fresh, proactive ideas for play, sensory exploration, and developmental activities as she grows Active participation in her physical, emotional, and cognitive development Helping pack for upcoming family trips Seasonal swaps for her clothing as she outgrows things, plus bedding and gear changes as needed Household management & organization Acting as a second set of eyes — noticing, prioritizing, and moving things forward Daily room resets and tidying Seasonal swaps for the home (decor, bedding, etc.) Preparing the home for guest stays Keeping the kitchen and household staples stocked Occasional errands as needed (returns, pickups) — this may grow modestly over time Laundry & cleaning Light cleaning across our 1,750 sq ft, three-bedroom home Family laundry, including our daughter's Light, occasional cooking (we both cook regularly and enjoy it) Pets, plants & outdoor care Daily care for our two cats Feeding the chickens and collecting eggs Watering houseplants Watering and light tending of the garden Home base while we travel We travel roughly once a month. During those weeks, your hours and schedule stay consistent and your focus shifts toward holding down the home — caring for the cats and chickens, keeping the plantsand garden tended, tidying and resets, and tackling projects that are easier to do without us underfoot (deep cleans, organization work, seasonal projects). Required Authorized to work in the U.S. (citizen, permanent resident, or active work visa) Some experience working with or around children (formal or informal) Genuine interest in engaging with and contributing to a child's development Strong references we can speak with Willingness to undergo a background check Comfortable with pets and outdoor tasks Nice to have Bilingual Spanish CPR / First Aid certified Prior household management or family assistant experience Compensation & benefits $28-$34/hour, depending on experience Paid through a household payroll service (taxes, PFML, and unemployment properly handled) Other benefits: Holidays, Year-end Bonus for discussion
Pay:

Flexible schedule
