Job Description

Position Summary The Assistant Director supports the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring compliance with Washington State licensing regulations, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children, supporting staff, and assisting with enrollment, family communication, scheduling, and program management. The Assistant Director serves as a leader within the center and assumes responsibility for center operations in the Director's absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Administration Assist with the daily operation of the childcare center. Support the Director in maintaining compliance with DCYF licensing requirements. Help recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff. Monitor staff schedules, ratios, and classroom coverage. Assist with staff meetings and professional development. Support classroom management and behavior guidance strategies. Family Relations Build positive relationships with families. Address parent questions and concerns professionally. Assist with enrollment, tours, and family orientation. Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff. Licensing & Compliance Ensure compliance with all DCYF regulations and center policies. Assist with licensing visits and documentation. Monitor health, safety, and sanitation practices. Maintain accurate records and files. Program Support Support curriculum implementation and classroom quality. Provide classroom coverage as needed. Ensure children's developmental and educational needs are met. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Administrative Support Assist with attendance tracking and record keeping. Support billing, enrollment, and reporting processes. Manage communication through Bright wheel and other platforms. Complete additional duties assigned by the Director.
Applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old. Pass a Washington State DCYF Background Check. Complete a TB Test. Have an active MERIT account. Complete Child Care Basics Training. Complete CPR/First Aid Certification. Complete Bloodborne Pathogens Training. Complete Safe Sleep Training (if applicable). Complete Food Handler Permit (if applicable). Education Requirements Hold or obtain a Washington State ECE Certificate (or equivalent approved by DCYF) within the required timeline.
MUST HAVE 45 ECE
college credits approved in MERIT and meet Washington State qualifications.
Experience Requirements Must have either:
Two years of experience as a teacher in a licensed childcare program, or Two years of administration or management experience, or A DCYF-approved alternative plan.
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
