  • Full-time Christ Methodist Church of Auburn is a thriving and growing congregation in the Global Methodist Church, rooted in the historic Wesleyan tradition and committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
Our church family spans multiple generations—from young children, youth, and college students to young families, empty nesters, and senior adults—creating a vibrant community where people of every age and stage of life are encouraged to grow in faith together. Located in Auburn, Alabama, CMCA is dedicated to proclaiming the gospel through Christ-centered worship, biblical preaching, intentional discipleship, compassionate service, and local and global missions. Guided by the Wesleyan emphasis on holiness of heart and life, we seek to help people encounter the transforming grace of Jesus Christ, grow as devoted followers of Him, and actively participate in His mission in the world. As God continues to bring new people into our church family, we are committed to cultivating a culture of spiritual growth, authentic community, and lifelong discipleship. We are seeking a gifted leader to help shape the future of discipleship, small groups, leadership development, and missions as we continue to reach Auburn, Opelika, and the world for Christ. This is a new staff position and a unique opportunity to help shape the discipleship culture of a rapidly growing church at a pivotal moment in its history. The successful candidate will help build systems, develop leaders, expand missions, and influence generations of disciples as CMCA continues to grow into its vision for the future.
Key Priorities:
1. Lead the Church's Discipleship Strategy
  • Develop and champion a comprehensive discipleship pathway that helps people of all ages move from initial faith to mature, Spirit-filled discipleship.
  • Strengthen Sunday School classes, small groups, Bible studies, and leadership development efforts while fostering a culture of spiritual growth, personal holiness, and Christ-centered community. 2. Mobilize the Church for Mission
  • Provide vision and leadership for local, regional, and global missions.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships, coordinate mission opportunities and trips, and inspire the congregation to live out the Gospel through evangelism, compassion, service, and witness. 3. Strengthen Assimilation and Engagement
  • Create effective pathways that help guests and new members connect to the life of the church through discipleship, meaningful relationships, ministry involvement, and covenant membership. 4. Develop Leaders for Kingdom Impact
  • Identify, equip, and encourage emerging leaders throughout the congregation. Provide training, coaching, and ongoing support for ministry leaders, teachers, small-group facilitators, and volunteers. 5. Serve as a Pastor, Teacher, and Spiritual Leader
  • Teach regularly in discipleship and leadership settings, provide pastoral care alongside the church staff, and model a life of faithful discipleship, humility, and Christlike character.
Qualifications:
  • A clear and vibrant personal faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrated by a life of holiness and devotion.
  • A collaborative leader who enjoys working on a team, values healthy communication, embraces innovation, and is committed to building unity across generations.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master of Divinity (equivalent theological training) preferred, Doctor of Ministry optional.
  • Ordained, licensed, or willing to pursue credentialing within the Global Methodist Church.
  • Proven experience in discipleship, small group ministry, and/or missions leadership.
Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Senior Pastor. Works collaboratively with church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
