Room To Negotiate According to Experience Tier 1 Executive Level Role Executive-level staff members provide developmental leadership for specified areas of Compassion Church. With pastoral direction, they develop, oversee, and strengthen their assigned ministry areas while equipping and leading ministry-level leaders who implement strategy and oversee day-to-day ministry operations. Job Summary The Executive Pastor will effectively lead, administrate, and mobilize the staff and key volunteers of Compassion Church to execute ministry with excellence, unity, and effectiveness. This individual must be a creative, innovative, strategic thinker and a results-driven leader with high attention to quality, systems, and detail. The Executive Pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor to ensure all ministry efforts align with the mission, vision, and culture of Compassion Church. This individual will serve on the Directional Leadership Team alongside the Lead Pastor and others appointed by church leadership. This role provides oversight and leadership in the areas of spiritual growth, operations, finances, human resources, staffing, organizational systems, policies, ministry development, and church-wide initiatives. Scope The Executive Pastor will interface with every ministry and department within Compassion Church. In support of the Lead Pastor and Elder Board, this individual will assist in executing the overall strategic vision of the church through direct leadership of staff, finance, human resources, organizational systems, employee development, ministry activities, and church-wide events. This is an exempt, full-time position. Responsibilities will generally be performed in approximately 50 hours per week and will include a combination of office hours, weekend services, staff meetings, leadership events, and pastoral responsibilities. Responsibilities Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor to maintain alignment, communication, and a growing understanding of the vision and direction of Compassion Church. Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with ministry leaders and department heads to provide coaching, encouragement, accountability, and leadership development. Participate in intentional discipleship relationships within the church community. Routinely observe and evaluate ministry environments and operations, providing feedback and implementing process improvements where needed. Respond pastorally and professionally to members of the congregation who have feedback, concerns, or questions regarding Compassion Church. Through ministry teams, develop strategies that facilitate spiritual growth and discipleship throughout the church. Oversee the implementation, coordination, execution, and evaluation of ministry programs and events consistent with the mission and vision of Compassion Church. Prepare and manage the church budget, employee benefits, insurance, facilities, and human resources functions of the church. Maintain effective communication across all ministries to ensure alignment, collaboration, and efficient accomplishment of church-wide goals. Attend Elder meetings as a consultant and support to the Lead Pastor. Lead Finance Team meetings. Co-lead staff meetings alongside the Lead Pastor. Plan and co-lead Executive planning/offsite meetings and annual staff vision and planning gatherings. As part of the Directional Leadership Team, develop ministry models and strategies that support the mission and vision of Compassion Church. Supervise, manage, and develop staff on an ongoing basis through encouragement, accountability, training, support, performance reviews, and leadership development plans. Manage, develop, and continually improve the Individual Growth Plan (IGP) process. Coach ministry leaders in establishing and accomplishing short- and long-term ministry goals. Oversee the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of staff members who align with Compassion Church's mission, vision, values, and culture. Protect and cultivate a healthy staff culture that reflects the values and guiding principles of Compassion Church. Oversee the ongoing training and development of staff and volunteers to help them fulfill their purpose and potential. Foster a leadership pipeline by mentoring emerging leaders and cultivating a culture of continuous leadership development throughout the church staff and volunteer teams. As Compassion Church grows and ministry strategy evolves, help strengthen organizational structure and systems to support ministry effectiveness, excellence, and alignment with church vision. Work proactively to eliminate ministry silos and remove obstacles that negatively impact teamwork, communication, and collaboration. Host weekend services and preach as needed during weekend services or other ministry environments. Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, Biblical counseling, prayer, and general pastoral functions as needed. Serve as an emergency on-call pastor during evenings and weekends as needed. Serve as an active member of the church congregation through faithful participation in services and church events. Qualifications The Executive Pastor must meet the biblical qualifications of a Pastor/Elder, maintain a life of integrity, and possess excellent organizational, relational, and communication skills (both written and verbal). The ability to lead and work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences is essential. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required (Master's degree preferred), along with at least five years of ministry leadership experience in a mid-sized or large church environment. Candidates must demonstrate a ministry mindset, be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, be baptized by immersion, and be willing to become an active member of Compassion Church.
