YOUR ROLE AS A CHAPLAIN
As a Full Time Chaplain at American Premier Hospice, you will navigate a variety of responsibilities daily. Your primary expectation will be to provide spiritual assessments and individualized care plans for patients and their families. You will lead supportive discussions, offering comfort and guidance in emotional and spiritual matters. You'll collaborate regularly with the interdisciplinary team, participating in care meetings and contributing to the holistic approach to patient well-being. Documenting interactions and maintaining accurate records is essential for continuity of care. Additionally, you will facilitate memorial services and support bereavement initiatives, helping families cope with loss. Daily, you will embody compassion and active listening, ensuring that each patient feels valued and understood during their hospice journey. Flexibility and responsiveness to the emotional needs of others will be key to your success in this role.
WHAT MATTERS MOST
To thrive as a Full Time Chaplain at American Premier Hospice, a range of skills and qualifications are essential. Successful candidates will be graduates of an accredited seminary or school of theology, holding a BD, MDiv, or an equivalent theological degree. Experience working with death and dying, as well as interacting with individuals, families, and caregivers, is paramount. You must possess the ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, valuing collaboration and collective care. Comfort in an interfaith setting, along with a genuine acceptance of diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values, will enhance your effectiveness in this role. Strong networking skills with community clergy and congregations are crucial for fostering support systems. A deep knowledge of and commitment to the hospice philosophy of care, along with prior hospice experience, will significantly contribute to your success in providing compassionate care to our patients and their families.
