Personal Profile:
The Student Ministries Pastor is a person who is and models the life of a Christ follower. Succeeding in this role will require someone who loves rising to meet challenges. They will be able to work independently and also connect easily with colleagues and direct reports. This position needs a natural leader who both inspires and challenges their teams and raises the bar for their ministry. We are looking for a problem solver, an outside the box thinker who is innovative while controlling the big picture. A person who is socially poised and extraverted, who loves to make their mark, and won t shy away from risk. This Pastor will rally the team around projects-confidently making decisions and delegating tasks before moving on to their next project. This person enjoys working as part of a team, can take direction and input from senior leaders and creatively execute responsibilities within the boundaries outlined.
Purpose:
The Student Ministries Pastor is responsible for facilitating, designing, coordinating and overseeing a comprehensive youth ministry program for both Junior High and High School. Areas of focus include group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary preacher for High School Ministry and being a part of and building a preaching team for Junior High Ministry. Collaborate with church leaders in planning, developing and implementing all aspects of a balanced and engaging youth ministry. Lead and coordinate midweek programming for both High School (Tuesday nights) and Junior High (Wednesday nights). Pursue and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities within youth ministry practices. Recruit, train and develop volunteers to work in all aspects of youth ministry. Ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios. Develop and implement Sunday morning experience for all youth. Develop and implement mid-week experience for all youth. Lead and execute winter and summer camps. Lead the annual mission and discipleship training programs and trips: Impact (Jr. High) and SMI (High School). Maintain accurate records of youth participation. Manage and compile youth ministry budget for reporting purposes. Communicate with church leadership, staff, parents, and congregation in a timely manner utilizing available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, etc.). Maintain a flexible schedule that allows for approved and scheduled visits with youth in a variety of ways (i.e., attendance at extracurricular activities, times of crisis, etc.). Collaborate with church staff members in a cohesive and open team environment. Mentor youth and provide counseling and spiritual direction that aligns with church ministry strategy and plans. Provide oversight and direct supervision to volunteer youth leaders. Perform other ministry tasks as assigned by the Associate and Lead Pastor. Regular and reliable attendance is required in the performance of the job.
Experience:
Must have more than 2 years of experience in FT youth ministry plus the following job-related experience: Developing, organizing and effectively managing youth programs. Effectively working with children, teenagers, young adults and diverse groups. Exhibiting a personal and growing relationship with God.
Training related to:
o Organizing volunteer efforts o Leadership skills o Exercising discretion with confidential information o Program/meeting planning Coordinating activities and compiling and/or disseminating information related to youth: programs/events, camps, meeting/travel arrangements, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills and computer skills. Interacting, advising and communicating effectively. Reading, interpreting, editing and/or extracting information from various sources including: policies and procedures, program guidelines, manuals, reports, contacts, invoices and correspondence.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Christian Studies/Ministry. Seminary training is advantageous. Salary Range $50,500
