Worship Intern

Arizona Community Church is a nondenominational church in beautiful South Tempe. We are looking for a Worship Intern to assist our Contemporary Worship Director in leading worship in our growing contemporary worship services. Job Description:

The Contemporary Worship Intern is responsible for assisting the Contemporary Worship Director for Contemporary Worship services (Saturday 5:30pm, Sunday 10:00am, and 11:30am) and potentially on Thursday nights if available. Essential Job Functions (15 hrs) 1. Assist in developing and leading a team to build a God-glorifying worship ministry through spiritual and musical discipleship, establishing a healthy culture of worship. 2. Be able to lead a wide variety of songs with confidence, discernment, and enthusiasm. 3. Assemble and routinely update a collection of songs that meet the following criteria: God-centered, not man-centered. Theologically accurate and instructive Emotionally engaging, but not manipulative: Help create an intentional environment that is engaging and focused on the heart of worship.

Melodically simple:

Songs that are congregational rather than about performance 4. Work alongside the Contemporary Worship Director, understanding their vision for services and leading in a way that complements them. 5. Communicate songs, rehearsal times, and schedules with team members. 6. Input lyrics, videos, slides, etc. into the computer (ProPresenter) for services. 7. Occasionally build tracks for the sets using Playback 8. Set up the equipment necessary for practice and services. 9. Ensure that there is a welcoming atmosphere in the room before people arrive (music, lighting, cleanliness, chairs, stage design, etc.), and after services. 10. Clean up and put away all equipment after services. 11. Recruit for the worship team and help them grow spiritually as well as musically. 12. Work with the worship team like a small group, building the foundation for worshiping God in their whole lives (not just on stage) and leading others to do the same. 13. Raise up the next generation of worship leaders and volunteers. Provide resources, training, and opportunities to help them grow in their abilities. 14. Build relationships with others beyond just the worship team and be willing and able to help lead a small group if needed. 15. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience 1. This position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience leading worship. Ongoing education and training are encouraged. 2. The successful individual will be a strong leader with a solid work ethic, positive attitude, the ability to develop teams, coach and encourage students, and lead worship on or off the stage. 3. Have a working knowledge of creative programming related to student programs, worship arts, and special events. 4. Be proficient in one or more instruments. Spiritual Expectations 1. Maintain a growing and active relationship with the Lord. 2. Read regularly and listen to podcasts & sermons for the purposes of spiritual growth and knowledge. 3. Be committed to the doctrinal statement of ACC.
