I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-4 The membership of Living Stone Cathedral of Worship (dba First Baptist Missionary Church) is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor divinely called to preach and articulate the true word of God, having an expansive knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. The Senior Pastor is responsible for leading the church in functioning as a New Testament church under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The Senior Pastor provides spiritual instruction and strategic leadership to the members, staff and ministries of the church. In addition, the Senior Pastor is also expected to have administrative and organizational skills along with expertise in Christian Education. The Senior Pastor relates to and connects with multiple generations in order to provide Pastoral Care for the Church and outreach to the community. It is the desire that the applicant be a visionary for Church growth. Our desire is to find a humble Spirit filled leader with a clear calling as our Senior Pastor. The Senior Pastor who extends God s grace to others and leads by example as one who is relational, authentic, and transparent. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 Living Stone Cathedral of Worship located in Littlerock, CA is a rural community of Antelope, CA. It is bordered by the cities of Acton, Sun Village, Palmdale, Lake Los Angeles, Quartz Hills and Lancaster, CA. The Living Stone Cathedral of Worship is approximately 75 miles from Los Angeles, CA. Our membership has approximately 200 active members on roll. We are believing God to restore and add to us as it pleases him .
Responsibilities:
The standards required in I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-4 ? as a guide for personal behavior?.
Primary Functions:
To provide kingdom leadership to the members of this church enabling them to focus on the Great Commission, and equipping them to carry out the five functions of the New Testament church: evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship and worship. Preach, teach, shepherd, for the edification and spiritual growth of the body. An advocate of continuous improvement through training and development programs and willingness to attend. Manage the spiritual aspect of the church in coordination with the Pastors, Elders and Deacons. Plan and conduct worship services, developing sermons, planning with music leadership and leads in the observance of ordinances. Leads in the congregation and the community in effective programs to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) with vision, purpose and priority. Leads and demonstrates effective ways to witness, win and grow the lost to salvation through Jesus Christ. Provide pastoral care by visiting, ministering, befriending, nurturing, supporting, reconciling, and affirming church members in their home, hospitals, nursing care facilities, informal contacts and at church. Conducts counseling sessions, performs wedding ceremonies, dedicating babies, conducts funeral services. Works with Executive Council, Elders, Deacons and other key leadership to carry out the mission and purpose of the church. Serves as Overseer of church leadership and staff (paid and unpaid) and evaluating the tasks assigned to each. Serves to recommend and advise Ministries, committees and teams as an ex-officio member and establish yearly goals. Oversees, along with Pastors, Elders and Deacons, all church discipline matters and the management of conflict issues in the church. Communicates with the congregation through articles or announcements through written and spoken word using church newsletter, bulletin, electronic media, and worship services. Adheres to the Church Budget. Fiscally responsible, follows procedures for requesting budget changes and salary increases. Consult with Trustee Board regarding all contracts before execution and resultant contract will be signed by the Chairman of the Trustee Board and the Senior Pastor. Purchases over $1,000.00 (credit card) shall be coordinated with the Trustee Board prior to purchasing. Shall maintain accurate records and receipts of all purchases. Adheres to the Church Bylaws and Policies and Procedures adopted by the church leadership. Maintains a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord through daily Bible study and prayer. Be aware of and concerned with community needs activities and affairs and knowledgeably capable of addressing these concerns from a pastoral perspective, thus establishing respect in the community. Enabling persons within the congregation to become aware of and participate in issues of social concern. Must be an effective communicator corporately and interpersonally in written and oral skills.
Worship :
Conduct worship that enables people to hear the word of God and participate in personal and corporate devotion and relationship with God. Prepare and deliver sermons and lessons at all regular worship services of the Church. Prepare and lead all special worship events of the Church as well as weddings and funerals.
Spiritual Growth :
Guide the spiritual transformation of the congregation through teaching, preaching, and leadership by example. Work with the staff to ensure that the Church is provided with opportunities to pray and to study the Bible. Ensure that the Church is provided with opportunities to be involved in service within and beyond the Church. Encourage the congregation to give time, talents, and resources in service to God.
Administration :
Oversee all areas of the congregation s ministry in consultation with the Executive Council, Elders, Deacons, Trustees, other Church Officers, and Ministry Leaders. Support, supervise, manage and provide input for the evaluation of church employees in conjunction with the Executive Council and Elders. Build a sense of collaboration among church staff and Ministry Leaders. Hold and/or attend regular meetings to coordinate the ministries of the church and facilitate communication. Enable Deacons, Church Officers, and Ministry Leaders to better perform their duties through training and support. Work with the Church Executive Secretary, Executive Council and Elders to see that the facilities of the church are functional and in good repair.
Outreach :
Have a heart for the Living Stone Cathedral of Worship Church ministries and an understanding of the challenges of sharing the gospel in the immediate community. Make a concerted effort to engage new visitors and encourage them to take an active role in the church. Provide training opportunities to the congregation for outreach and evangelism. Support various mission opportunities, to encourage the Church in giving to missions, and to involve the Church in personal mission service.
Pastoral Care :
Visit and contact church members to encourage their involvement or to address their personal needs (especially all sick and shut-in church members). Provide pastoral care in conjunction with other ministers, committees, Elders and Deacons through visitation, counseling, and prayer. Professional Qualifications Licensed and ordained Minister with college and seminary is preferred from an accredited seminary school. Possess a minimum of 10 years of assistant /associate pastoral experience and minimum of 5 years of pastoral experience is preferred.
