POSITION SUMMARY
St. Lawrence Martyr Church is seeking the right candidate who wishes to join a diverse staff of professionals, dedicated to our Catholic faith and eager to work serving parishioners, school families, and guests within the South Redondo Beach and Torrance communities. Full time, 40 hours per week. Wages will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A background check, fingerprinting and VIRTUS/Safe Environment trainings are required of all parish and school staff within 90 days of start date.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves in keeping with the philosophy, goals and mission of the Catholic Church as they perform their functions. The Pastoral Center Front Office Manager serves to welcome and address the needs of those entering or calling, along with assisting Clergy and other staff as needed. Professional, yet personable, verbal and written communication skills, along with appropriate and confidential, phone and face-to-face interactions a must. The following are essential responsibilities for this position: Front Office Management & Hospitality Maintain aWelcoming Presence:
Serve as the primary point of contact for parishioners and visitors, ensuring a tidy, warm, respectful, and helpful environment.Reception Duties:
Manage the main phone lines, general email, and front desk operations, directing calls to clergy, appropriate staff, ministry leads or community resources as needed.Office Procedures:
Implement and further develop efficient systems to manage incoming/outgoing mail, key distribution, email, and supply orders.Printed Materials:
Assist with the printing of liturgical, ministry and music materials, as needed.Financial Receipts & Sacramental Processing Donations:
Receive, record, and process donations (including candle, Mass Intention and materials offerings) brought to the front desk, following established parish handling procedures.Records:
Process sacramental certificate requests (Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage) in accordance with parish recordkeeping procedures.Appointments:
Coordinate and manage priest appointments (including but not limited to sick calls) by communicating parishioner requests to the appropriate clergy.Database & Calendar Management Electronic Records:
Update and maintain parishioner and organizational records in parish database, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of data entry.Scheduling:
Assist with maintaining the parish facility calendar by logging room and space usage requests and communicating scheduling information to the appropriate staff member.Other Duties:
As assigned and deemed appropriate to this position may include supervising part-time/volunteer reception staff. RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform in this position successfully, the employee must possess the abilities and aptitude to carry out each duty professionally, thoughtfully and proficiently. The minimum qualifications for this position are established by the Pastor and Business Manager, in collaboration with key staff as follows: Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent, postsecondary education preferred. 2-5 years reception and/or office experience necessary. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) and general office equipment including multifunction copiers. Develop knowledge of Archdiocesan, parish and school policies and procedures. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a front desk workstation. Ability to lift and carry office supplies and materials up to 20 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a telephone, computer keyboard, and standard office equipment. Possess a Valid Driver's License. Typical Hours, with some flexibility for holidays, weekends and special events: Monday- Friday
