Associate Pastor of Leadership Development Job Description:

Gateway Church is seeking a full-time associate pastor to lead leadership development and serve on the teaching team. We are a non-denominational church in Visalia, CA, with the purpose of helping people move closer to Jesus one step at a time. For the last 150+ years Gateway has stayed on mission through unapologetically teaching the Bible and enthusiastically welcoming so we can strategically grow as a church family, while meeting the needs of each other and the community around us.

Purpose :

The Associate Pastor of Leadership Development will serve as a key member of the pastoral team, helping equip leaders across multiple ministries, create ministry alignment, and execute the vision. This role emphasizes creating group systems, training leaders, fostering spiritual growth, and assisting the Lead Pastor in meeting the church's overall pastoral needs.

Qualifications:

A professed commitment to Jesus Christ that is demonstrated through Christian growth and is a model of spiritual leadership and lifestyle in ministry and family life. Meets the qualifications of a pastor according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1: 5-9. Agreement and alignment with Gateway 7 essential beliefs. Actively engaged in personal evangelism. Possess the spiritual gift of teaching or preaching. Clear understanding and commitment to helping disciples make other disciples. A commitment to the pastors and staff, supporting the vision and philosophy of the ministry of Gateway Church. Minimum of 5 years of full-time ministry experience as an Associate or Lead Pastor. Master of Divinity degree or equivalent theological education preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve on the Executive Staff team to implement vision and alignment within Gateway Church. Work with Lead Pastor to create and execute leadership development systems in partnership with all church ministries. Serve on the teaching team, teaching on Sundays 3 to 4 times a year and leading Bible studies. In partnership with the Pastoral Team, assist with pastoral care, counseling, weddings, funerals, and home and hospital visitations.
