Job Description

Position Summary:
The Youth Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading a comprehensive ministry for youth. The goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by fostering a Christ-centered environment where students can grow spiritually, connect with peers, and integrate into the broader life of the church. Key Responsibilities 1. Ministry Programming & Discipleship Plan, organize, and lead weekly youth group meetings, which may include Sunday School classes, and Bible studies. Select and teach engaging, biblically sound curriculum tailored to the faith questions of middle and high school students. Coordinate special events, including seasonal retreats, youth-led worship services, mission trips, and community service projects. 2. Volunteer Leadership & Development Recruit, train, and equip a team of passionate adult volunteers to serve as leaders, small group facilitators, and mentors. Schedule and lead regular planning meetings with the volunteer team to ensure ministry goals are met. 3. Spiritual Care & Community Outreach Establish meaningful, mentoring relationships with youth by being present in their lives (e.g., attending school extracurricular activities, school lunches). Provide pastoral care, prayer, and guidance to youth and their families during difficult times. Actively engage in outreach to invite unchurched youth and their families into the church community. 4. Family & Church Integration Partner with and equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders of their children, maintaining consistent communication on upcoming events and ministry philosophies. Intentionally involve youth in multigenerational church life (e.g., ushering, reading scripture, or serving in the broader congregation). 5. Administrative Duties Develop and manage the annual youth ministry budget. Communicate effectively with youth, parents, and church leadership via emails, and social media and quarterly Administrative Council reports. Adhere strictly to the church's "Safe Sanctuaries" or child protection policies, ensuring all volunteers undergo proper LiveScan fingerprinting background checks and training.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or
University Experience:
2-5 years of proven experience in youth ministry or a related educational/social service field is preferred.
Faith & Character:
Must possess a strong, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, model a mature Christian lifestyle, and agree with the church's core theological beliefs and statements.
Skills:
Strong relational, organizational, and communication skills. Must be proficient in social media, digital communication, and basic office software.
Background:
Must pass a thorough LiveScan fingerprinting background check and have a clean driving record (to drive church vehicles for events/trips). Work Environment & Schedule The position requires a flexible schedule, as it will regularly involve working evenings, weekends, and overnight hours for retreats and mission trips.
