Executive Pastor

Job Description:

Gateway Church is seeking a full-time Executive Pastor to help foster organizational alignment and execution of vision. We are a non-denominational church in Visalia, CA, with the purpose of helping people move closer to Jesus one step at a time. For the last 150+ years Gateway has stayed on mission through unapologetically teaching the Bible and enthusiastically welcoming so we can strategically grow as a church family, while meeting the needs of each other and the community around us. The Executive Pastor serves as a key leader on the church's executive team, responsible for helping oversee the development, alignment, and execution of ministry departments to fulfill the church's mission and vision.

Pastoral Qualifications:

A professed commitment to Jesus Christ that is demonstrated through Christian growth and is a model of spiritual leadership and lifestyle in ministry and family life. Meets the qualifications of a pastor according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1: 5-9. Agreement and alignment with Gateway's seven essential beliefs. Actively engaged in personal evangelism. Clear understanding and commitment to helping disciples make other disciples.

Professional Qualifications:

Strategic Leadership - The Executive Pastor doesn't just understand vision, they operationalize it. This role requires the ability to translate big-picture direction into clear, actionable plans that align people, priorities, and resources toward mission impact. Relational and emotional Intelligence - This role demands a high level of self-awareness, emotional maturity, and the ability to build trust, resolve conflict, and foster healthy, high-performing teams. Collaborator - Work collaboratively with all ministry leaders to offer support and resources. Communicator - Possesses the spiritual gift of teaching or preaching.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Associate, Executive, or Lead Pastor. Proven experience in effectively leading and empowering both staff and volunteer teams. A Masters of Divinity degree or equivalent theological education is preferred.
