Job Description

Are you passionate about guiding the next generation in their faith journey? We're seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic youth and young adult specialist to join our team! We're seeking the right person—not just to fill a role, but to help shape it. The position will be developed collaboratively, drawing on the candidate's gifts, experience, and God-given strengths. Youth & Young Adult Director (Full-Time Example) Palm City Presbyterian Church www.palmcitypres.org Position Overview The Youth & Young Adult Director provides spiritual leadership, relational care, and intentional discipleship for youth (middle and high school, ages 11-18) and young adults (college through mid-30s). This role exists to help the next generation grow in their relationship with Jesus, develop authentic community, and live out their faith in daily life.

full-time exempt Key Responsibilities 1. Discipleship & Spiritual Formation
  • Facilitate and oversee weekly discipleship opportunities for youth and young adults that foster spiritual growth, meaningful relationships, and engagement with Scripture
  • Teach biblically grounded lessons and facilitate small group discussions that invite questions and personal reflection
  • Build mentoring relationships with students and young adults, providing guidance, prayer, and encouragement
  • Help youth and young adults connect their faith to everyday life through service, worship, and community engagement
  • Collaborate with the Palm City Presbyterian Church (PCPC) pastors to guide the youth confirmation process
  • Work with the Director of Next Generation Ministry to determine annual areas of emphasis toward growing the Next Generation ministry 2. Ministry Leadership
  • Create a welcoming environment for both churched and unchurched young people
  • Provide pastoral care and support to youth and young adults
  • Partner with parents and caregivers as primary faith influencers in the lives of students
  • Collaborate with church staff to ensure youth and young adult ministries align with PCPC's overall mission and discipleship vision
  • Encourage participation in intergenerational worship and service opportunities 3. Community & Events
  • Facilitate and oversee retreats, mission trips, service projects, and seasonal gatherings that build community and deepen discipleship
  • Cultivate a vibrant community among young adults through small groups, fellowship events, and shared experiences
  • Support opportunities for youth and young adults to serve in worship, outreach, and congregational life
  • Support and lead youth-focused outreach initiatives, such as First Priority chapters, while partnering with schools and organizations to enhance engagement
  • Communicate regularly with participants and families about events, opportunities, and updates Qualifications

  • Alignment with Palm City Presbyterian's mission and values
  • Must be at least 25 years of age and have a high school diploma - AA preferred
  • 2 years of experience working with teens in a ministry, educational, or similar setting - 5 years preferred
  • Experience offering guidance to those curious about faith
  • A heart for ministering to youth and their families and young adults
  • Biblical teaching experience
  • Ability to disciple and relate to youth and their families and young adults
  • A commitment to team ministry
  • Strong communication and relational skills with the ability to connect across generations
  • Proven ability to lead and shepherd in a collaborative ministry environment
  • Flexible, creative, and able to balance relational and programmatic responsibilities
  • Must pass a background check and comply with PCPC's child safety policies and the Employee Handbook

This part-time role is perfect for college students, teachers, retirees, or professionals looking to make a meaningful impact by coaching and mentoring teens while fostering strong relationships within a Christ-centered community. Director of Next Generation Ministry Status:
Part time, about 25 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and deliver weekly lessons for youth programs based on the curriculum developed by the Director of Next Generation Ministry
  • Work under the direction of the Director of Next Generation Ministry to develop and coordinate youth programs
  • Ensure volunteers are prepared and supported in delivering programs
  • Be available to address parents' questions, concerns, and suggestions
  • Promote and participate in youth programs in the following areas: 1. Weekly Group meetings for Middle School, High School, and Young Adults
  • Plan and lead weekly youth group meetings that foster spiritual growth and fellowship
  • Deliver lessons aligned with Palm City Presbyterian Church (PCPC)'s selected curriculum
  • Create a welcoming environment for youth to ask questions and share their faith journey
  • Organize small group discussions and activities to encourage personal reflection and connection 2. Youth Involvement in Worship Services
  • Facilitate youth participation in worship through scripture reading, music, prayer, and testimony
  • Collaborate with the worship team to incorporate youth-led elements into services 3. Seasonal Events (Vacation Bible School, Easter, Summer Missions, Summer Camp, etc.)
  • Support the Director by implementing and leading youth participation in seasonal events, ensuring youth engagement and follow-up after events
  • Ensure youth feel connected and engaged during these events
  • Communicate with parents and youth about upcoming events and involvement opportunities
  • Provide follow-up to keep youth engaged post-events 4. Outreach Initiatives (e.g., First Priority Chapter at a Middle or High School)
  • Support and lead youth-focused outreach initiatives, such as First Priority chapters, while partnering with schools and organizations to enhance engagement
  • Support youth in leading and participating in school-based faith-sharing activities
  • Build relationships with school staff and community leaders to enhance outreach efforts
  • Encourage youth to invite friends to church and youth group events
  • Develop outreach strategies to engage unchurched youth in a welcoming environment
Requirements:
  • A committed Christian with a deep understanding of and alignment with PCPC's mission and values
  • Must be at least 25 years of age and have a high school diploma - AA preferred
  • 2 years of experience working with teens in a ministry, educational, or similar setting - 5 years preferred
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and events
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a heart for building relationships with children, families, and volunteers
  • Ability to work collaboratively with PCPC staff, volunteers, and parents
  • Flexibility and creativity in implementing and developing age-appropriate lessons and activities
  • Must pass a background check and comply with PCPC's child safety policies and the Employee Handbook
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and during key seasonal events
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate your schedule, except for Wednesday afternoons and Sunday mornings and evenings
