Job Description
Lead Pastor of Cross Church Starke Purpose:
Responsible for leading the staff and church body in carrying out purpose and values of the church and to oversee and direct the teaching ministry of the church.
Primary Responsibilities:
Teaching, Preaching and Sermon Preparation Give Leadership to the Executive Pastor Give vision / oversight of all functions of the
Church Additional Responsibilities:
Be available to the congregation for counsel, weddings, funerals, baptisms and communion, as able and as needed. Participate in the work of Cross Church. Be accountable to the Board of Trustees and ultimately the congregation.
Board Relationships:
Serve as the CEO and Chairman of Trustees. Have the power of address and serve as an ex officio member of all boards and committees of the church. Actively contributes to the improvement of the ministry of Cross Church and provides prayerful support. Functions well with co-workers, treating them with honor and grace. Encourages spiritual focus and commitment by modeling the Core Values of Cross Church.
Improvement of Ministry Operations:
Contributes toward the improvement of the ministry as a whole.
Spiritual/Personal Life:
Qualify for his office according to the standards of 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1. Ordained as a minister of the Gospel. Ability to work on a team towards specific goals in a mutually edifying and supportive manner. A teachable and open attitude. A commitment to the Statement of Faith and Core Values as stated in the Bylaws of Cross Church. Membership in Cross Church as soon as practicable after joining the staff. Consistent spiritual disciplines of Bible study, prayer and fasting. Regular accountability to spouse and an accountability partner/team. Intentional pursuit of moral and ethical purity. High priority placed on spouse and children. Consistently support the ministry of Cross Church by tithing 10% of income.
