Job Description

Overview Carlinville United Methodist Church is seeking a passionate and energetic leader to serve as our full-time PreK-12 Youth and Young Adult Pastor/Director. This individual will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for ministries that help children, youth, and young adults grow in their faith, develop meaningful relationships, and become active disciples of Jesus Christ. The successful candidate will build relationships with students and families both within the church and throughout the community, creating engaging opportunities for worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, and outreach. Working collaboratively with church staff, volunteers, parents, and community partners, the Pastor/Director will lead and strengthen existing ministries while developing new strategies to reach and connect with the next generation. We are seeking a self-motivated leader with strong communication, organizational, and relational skills who has a heart for evangelism, a passion for youth and family ministry, and a willingness to teach and support the Wesleyan tradition and beliefs of The United Methodist Church.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide leadership to our overall PreK-12thministry and young adult ministry, including the accomplishment of all CUMC goals and objectives. Examples include coordination of VBS, organizing Wed Night Programming for PreK-12th, Coordination of Sunday school, and other programs as needed. 2. Assist in the growth of PreK - 12th Ministry teams to effectively reach thePrek-12th and parents of Carlinville's immediate and extended communities. 3. Maintain a close working relationship with the youth of our community and make connections with students from our schools, drawing them into the fellowship of our church and into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 4. Collaborate with the church's staff in the creation of new ministries as needed to accomplish the vision and mission of the church. 5. Make and maintain positive relationships with leaders in the community, especially leaders of our schools and other youth organizations. 6. Establish strong relationships with the PreK-12th students and parents of our church, guiding them to make an impact on others in the community. 7. Provide spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis. 8. Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement. 9. Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries. 10. Prepare, monitor, and assist with management of the annual Prek-12th budget as approved by the church board. 11. Manage student fees and fundraising money for events and ministry/mission trips. 12. Participate in staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Lead Pastor, CUMC Council meetings, and other meetings necessary to lead an effective youth and young adult ministry. Be participatory in attendance at the regular and special services of the church. 13. Other duties as required and requested by the Lead Pastor and CUMC Council.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Prefer a bachelor's degree in ministry, social work, or education with some experience in youth ministry. Believes and/or is willing to teach Wesleyan theology and the teachings of the United Methodist Church. 2. Demonstrate gifts and calling to PreK - 12th ministry and have a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level. 3. A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with PreK-12th grade parents and staff. Able to work as a team player, cooperating with staff, CUMC Council, and congregation members. 4. Must possess strong communication skills and a desire to be active in community outreach. This position requires excellent leadership, administrative, and organizational skills. 5. Able to learn and understand the community's needs, using demographics, technology, and social media to reach PreK-12th-grade students, parents, and young adults in our community. 6. Should be able to act with minimal supervision and provide guidance to church leadership in all areas concerning children and youth ministry. $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
