$35k to $40k Salary Send applications or inquiries to: Job Description The St. John Paul II Catholic Newman Center strives to be a home away from home while serving the college students of Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Heartland Community College. We exist to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to invite students into an intentional and lifelong relationship with Him. The campus minister is tasked with aiding the Chaplain in creating an environment within the Newman Center which fosters genuine friendships and develops a life of faith in Jesus Christ and His Church. The Campus Minister accomplishes this task by desiring to grow in his/her own friendship with Christ each day through prayer, the Sacraments, and discipleship experiences. Flowing from this personal growth in a life of faith, the Campus Minister will develop and sustain discipleship opportunities, plan social events, coordinate retreat experiences, and maintain a strong "ministry of presence".
Campus Minister Responsibilities:
Communication and Community Building Communicates with the Chaplain regarding liturgy and prayer services, retreats, and events Supervises the student leaders that oversee our different ministries and discipleship opportunities Willingness to engage in a "ministry of presence" within the Newman center and Campus, as well as offering "open office hours" to serve the needs of the students Faith Formation Collaborate with the FOCUS missionaries in equipping student leaders with the necessary means to build up a culture of small groups and Bible studies. Assist with the teaching of OCIA classes and coordinate communication with the students that are seeking to enter full communion with the Catholic Church. Evangelization & Campus Life Provides student leaders with the space to create different evangelization opportunities on campus and within the Newman Center Oversees our registered student organization with the Universities Communicates regularly with the Universities to make sure guidelines for advertisement and on-campus events are being met Works with our FOCUS Missionaries to plan and execute outreach and hospitality events to attract new students into the Newman Center community Retreats and Prayer Helps build teams for retreats each semester Train and manage team leaders and provide formation throughout the semester for college students Oversee beginning of the year freshman overnight retreat Organize retreat schedule and be present to manage retreats Coordinate retreat follow up with team leaders Events and Programing Initiates students' involvement and organizes events that coordinate with: Quad Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Homecoming Week, Siblings Weekend, and Commencements Collaborates with Chaplain and staff on weekly and annual events for students, families, alumni, and benefactors Organizes guest presentations for Advent and Lent Qualifications Practicing Catholic and in good standing with the Catholic Church Bachelor's degree Open to flexible work schedule Full time position with health and retirement benefits
