Mt. Gilead Church is a thriving, non-denomination congregation that is situated in the charming farming community near Olney, Illinois. The church was established in 1851 and has a rich history of being a Bible believing and Bible teaching church. We are a medium size congregation with constituency of over 400 and an average weekly attendance of around 250. We are blessed with a healthy blend of youth and maturity. However, our main core is active young families and so we do place a special emphasis on children and youth, believing that they are not only the church of the future, but very much a part of the church today. We love to sing current worship music in our services and our teaching ministry is one that makes great effort to be both engaging and relatable but above all, Biblical! Mt. Gilead Church is Elder led with a focus on lending support and guidance to our staff, a general oversight of operations as well as spiritual and Biblical integrity. Mt Gilead Church currently employs four staff members, all of whom have been with us for a significant time. Those current staff members are Senior Pastor, Youth Pastor, Church Secretary, and Worship Leader. Our Church emphasizes Community and Family and offers many opportunities to engage on that level. We are a country church but are blessed to have an impact into the surrounding towns and counties by way of some of these events.

Our Core Beliefs:

Here is a simple but concise listing of what we believe and base our teaching on at Mt Gilead. We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and died on our behalf to atone for our sins through His shed blood. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father, and will return personally in power and glory. We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is the only completely true and authoritative guide for faith and life. We believe there is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that all people are sinful and in need of salvation, and that spiritual renewal through the Holy Spirit is essential. We believe the Holy Spirit is active today, living within believers and empowering them to live godly lives. We believe in the resurrection of all people-those who are saved will rise to eternal life, and those who are lost will rise to eternal separation from God. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Jesus Christ. We believe that everyone has the right and responsibility to read and interpret Scripture under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We share two sacred sacraments at Mt Gilead Church. We offer Communion on the first Sunday of the month to all Believers and we also encourage baptism to anyone who has become a Christ Follower, serving as an outward declaration of what has happened in their hearts.

Our Vision:

Mt Gilead Church exists to introduce people to Jesus but also to disciple, encourage and spiritually challenge those who attend our services. We have come to a place in the growth of our church, where we feel the time is right to add another full time staff pastor who can help in the areas of connectivity and discipleship. We believe that God is out ahead of us in bringing that person to us and we are praying that God will guide us as well as the candidate who may feel directed our way! Position Description:

The Associate Pastor position for Mt Gilead Church will be a strategic leader responsible for assisting the Pastor in multiple ministry responsibilities but with an emphasis on moving people from being first-time guests to fully engaged, serving members of the church community.

Core Responsibilities:

Assimilation & Guest Experience :

Develop and manage a clear pathway for newcomers, and oversee the First Impressions Team ( greeters, ushers, and welcome center and potentially parking ministries) to ensure a welcoming environment.

Small Groups Oversight :

Work with the Pastor to provide vision and leadership for the church s small group ministry, which includes recruiting, training, and coaching group leaders.

Volunteer Development :

Create and implement a "volunteer pipeline" to identify, recruit, and place congregants into serving roles that match their spiritual gifts.

Data Management :

Utilize church management systems, such as the Planning Center Online, to track attendance, manage follow-up workflows, and measure engagement metrics.

Pastoral Care & Rites :

As an ordained or licensed minister, they will preach periodically, perform baptisms, weddings, and funerals, and provide short-term pastoral counseling.

Qualifications Experience:

Preference of ministry experience, specifically in leadership development or guest services. But we will prayerfully consider anyone who feels a calling to this kind of ministry.

Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in ministry or a related field.

Skills:
