New Testament Church of Christ defines leadership as Christ-centered, relational influence that equips, trains, and releases followers of Jesus to grow in His character. This leadership requires one to actively participate in His mission by making disciples, sharing the Gospel, and the hope that transforms lives with those who do not know Him; so they too may believe.PHILOSOPHY
New Testament Church of Christ's philosophy of ministry is Staff Led-Elder Oversight. The Staff creates the ministry plan with the elder's approval and accountability, while all the people of NTCC use their spiritual gifts to help bring it about.PURPOSE:
The Lead Pastor exists to advance the mission and purpose of the church by faithfully preaching and teaching the Word of God, providing spiritual leadership to the church staff and congregation, equipping believers for ministry, and shepherding the flock entrusted to the church. This responsibility is carried out through five primary pastoral functions: 1. Prayer- Seeking God's guidance and covering the church, its leaders, and its mission in prayer. 2. Preaching
- Faithfully proclaiming and teaching the Scriptures to instruct, encourage, and challenge the congregation. 3. Protection
- Guarding the church from false teaching, division, and spiritual harm while maintaining doctrinal integrity. 4. Policy
- Providing leadership in establishing and implementing policies, vision, and direction for the church. 5. Pastoral Care
- Shepherding the congregation through discipleship, counseling, visitation, and spiritual oversight.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and preach a biblical sermon. 2. Work with and direct both staff and support staff. 3. Communicate clearly with elders concerning congregational needs and personal well-being. 4. Invite, train, and encourage other men, including but not limited to elders, other pastors, and mature Christian men, to handle and preach God's word. 5. Work with the worship director on planning and developing services. 6. Plan and conduct monthly staff meetings. (Purpose:
unity, communication, and alignment.) 7. Equip, train, and release the believers for works of service and to participate in the mission of making Jesus known. 8. Provide counsel and encouragement to the staff and the body of Christ. 9. Coordinate the church events with staff and team leaders. 10. Conduct weddings, funerals, and related counseling. 11. Work with Elders in providing oversight of ministry development and overall spiritual growth. 12. Assist in the development and training of potential church leaders. 13. Facilitate and participate in visiting the sick and the homebound. 14. Foster a culture of disciples making disciples.Primary strengths/gifts/talents required:
1. Heart for God. 2. Know and apply Scripture. 3. Clear communicator; able to teach, encourage, and be a visionary. 4. Church Ministry Experience at least 5 years. 5. College degree in ministry from a college/seminary affiliates with the Christian Church/Churches of Christ. 6. Team player and willing to share preaching duties with other staff. 7. Full buy-in to the vision, mission, and values of New Testament Church of Christ. 8. Model discipleship. Our prayerful hope is for the following to happen in the next 12 months 1.Healthy Leadership Transition:
Work alongside the current Lead Pastor for a minimum of twelve months to ensure a healthy and smooth leadership transition. This season will allow for mentoring, continuity of leadership, and stability for the congregation. 2. Build Strong Relationships. Intentionally develop healthy, trusting relationships with the church staff, elders, ministry leaders, and the congregation to foster unity, communication, and shared mission. 3. Discern the Future Direction of theChurch:
Seek God's guidance for the next steps of New Testament Church of Christ through prayer, observation, and listening. In partnership with the elders, prayerfully identify and clarify the direction and priorities for the church's future ministry. 4. Planning of the 2027Preaching Calendar:
Participate in the planning, development and implementation of the 2027 preaching calendar.Work Location:
