As the Ministry Assistant you will support the Spiritual Mission of The Salvation Army in all aspects of programming and activities at The Harbor Light Corps/Center. To assist the Corp Administrator with preparation of devotional and spiritual materials for clients as well as staff. The Ministry Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.What You Will Do:
Assist and take part in the Worship Services Provide Spiritual Assessment and Counseling for residents, clients, and staff Support Corp Administrator in conducting recovery classes, Bible Studies, Prayer meetings, and Energizers for the clients. This includes teaching RT and TH classes for their curriculum (Steps, Spiritual Awareness). Assist in training the new recruits (membership class) for leadership Provide leadership to men's or women's fellowship, preaching, Sunday School and teaching Assist with Celebrate Recovery Assist with Pastoral Visitation w/direct involvement to the clients and their families. Support Corps Administrator in Red-Carpet Experience, provide welcoming introductions to new clients at the facility within 72 hours of arrival Lead educational and spiritual classes (Energizers, Slice of Bread, Relationship Class-MEE Journal) Visit nursing homes and individuals who are shut-in and maintain an active seeker's role book/computerized Oversee Morning Thoughts for breakfast 5 days a week and evening gratitude designated Assist in the preparation and follow-through of The Salvation Army Review process Maintain appropriate documentation in NextStep regarding spiritual care, client progress, and applicable policy and contractual guidelines Collect, enter, and maintain Chaplaincy stats, Hawker Room inventory, and Chaplaincy Gift and Kind. Assist in the Christmas Campaign in whatever tasks are assigned to you by the Corp Administrator (Prepare Volunteer Kettles, counting, etc.) Provide support, encouragement, and compassion to clients as they work toward achieving their goals. Maintain reports, files, and administrative data for religious operations Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary staffing and departmental meetings, in-service training as well as other training as directed Collaborate with SAHLC staff to consistently review or discuss client needs and goals Maintains confidentiality of all client information according to Federal, State, and The Salvation Army standards, policies, and procedures Other tasks as assigned by leadershipMinimum Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferably associate's degree or equivalent in Biblical Studies or related field plus a minimum of two years' experience in ministry related serviceBackground Checks:
Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.Experience:
At least two years of teaching experience in a spiritual program and/or soldiership preferred. Candidate should be familiar with the doctrinal beliefs of The Salvation Army.Certifications:
Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment. Within 1 year of hire successfully complete and maintain Case Management Certification, SFH Train the Trainer courses, and soldiership classes.Skills/Abilities:
Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele. Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems. If in recovery, must demonstrate at least two years of sobriety with evidence of emotional and social stability.Supervisory Responsibility:
