Pastor of Student Ministries Shelbyville Community Church Reports to:
Surrendered Living Pastor Status:
Full Time - It is expected the youth pastor will work 40-45 hours a week. Salary is determined by education and experience.

Exempt Job Summary:
The Pastor of Student Ministries helps middle school and high school families and students grow in their faith in Christ. This individual develops a ministry that grows disciples who live and love like Jesus, and points students to their identity in Jesus and the joy of being His hands and feet in their schools.
Essential Functions:
Leading Volunteer Youth Leaders Recruit student and adult leaders as needed. Provide appropriate training for leadership teams. Provide pastoral care for leadership teams.
Parents / Families
Partner with parents and families to help them be the spiritual hero in their student s lives. Research, create, and provide practical tools for parents and families to be spiritual leaders. Provide pastoral care and support for parents and families. Students Work with students to train and help them develop their gifts and abilities in serving the church. Create systems for spiritual discipleship and mentoring of students congruent with church wide goals/systems. Provide pastoral care for students and develop a system for pastoral care across the ministry. Weekly Programming Plan, co-ordinate, and oversee weekly programming elements for middle school and high school ministries. Serve as primary teacher for middle school and high school ministries, equipping and training gifted volunteers to serve on a teaching team. Create leadership teams to carry out various roles of the ministry each week. Other Youth Ministry Roles Work with volunteer leaders to plan appropriate quarterly and annual events (retreats, camps, trips, outreach events, etc.) Oversee annual budget and expenditures of ministry. Create and provide regular communication with families regarding the ministry. Staff Roles Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings. Serve in hospital visitation for general congregation as needed. Perform weddings/funerals as needed as part of larger staff. Attend staff retreats and training as required. Work with other staff members to carry out the overall goals of the church leadership. Serve as part of a team in partnership with staff and elders in roles outside of the youth ministry as needed. Serve in other capacities as skills and gifting may allow. Perform duties according to values and guidelines expressed in Shelbyville Community Church Staff Handbook.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position is a teaching position on staff and therefore requires at least a bachelor s degree. Three years ministry experience leading a healthy student ministry in a multi-staff setting. Agreement and adherence to the Statement of Faith of Shelbyville Community Church. This position will comply with the guidelines written in the Shelbyville Community Church Staff Handbook.
Physical Requirements:
Able to move freely in and out of various settings (church building, camps, retreats, etc.) Able to speak in a public forum. Able to drive students to and from events.
