Job Description

Chaplain
  • On-call
  • Applicants must live within a 30-mile radius of Meritus Medical Center
  • Hourly rate $23.74
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred Under the supervision of the Director of Spiritual Care Services, the Chaplain provides spiritual care for patients, families, volunteers, and staff in the hospital; provides leadership for in-patient and community education and treatment programs; provides mentoring for clinical pastoral education trainees; and provides leadership for programs to support area clergy and faith communities so as to foster a relationship with the religious community.
Education
  • bachelor's degree in religion, theology or other related field required. Master of Divinity or equivalent; preferred. 2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent
  • 4 preferred. Experience
  • Pastoral care, pastoral counseling, parish leadership, clinical education experience. Licensure/Certification
  • Ordination and/or letter of endorsement by faith required. It is preferred the candidate hold a clinical chaplain board certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains, College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or other professional chaplaincy organization. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Social Perceptiveness, Active Listening, Speaking, Critical Thinking, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Instructing, Judgment and Decision, Time Management, Management of Persons, Negotiation, Coordination, Complex Problem Solving, Pastoral Care Theory.
