Job Description

Assistant Director for Youth Ministry Archdiocese of Washington - Pastoral Center - Hyattsville Mary The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Catholic leader to serve as Assistant Director. Reporting to the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, this position supports the Archdiocese's strategic vision for evangelization, discipleship, leadership development, and accompaniment. The Assistant Director serves as a resource to parishes, schools, campus ministries, clergy, volunteers, and ministry leaders throughout the Archdiocese.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as a principal resource for parish youth ministers, clergy, schools, and volunteers.
  • Strengthen youth ministry throughout the Archdiocese with particular attention to Hispanic youth and families.
  • Coordinate youth leadership formation, retreats, conferences, rallies, and evangelization initiatives.
  • Build partnerships among parishes, Catholic schools, campus ministries, and cultural communities.
  • Recruit, train, and accompany volunteer leaders.
  • Assist ministries serving first- and second-generation Hispanic youth.
  • Develop resources addressing discipleship, leadership development, mental and emotional well-being, and family engagement.
  • Assist with communications, social media outreach, and event promotion.
  • Maintain relationships with pastors, principals, youth ministers, and community leaders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Ministry PrioritiesThis position advances ministry approaches identified as particularly effective within the Archdiocese, including:
  • Youth leadership formation and accompaniment.
  • Support and growth of parish centric youth ministry groups.
  • Dynamic Archdiocesan wide youth retreat and conference programs.
  • Eucharistic devotion, Confession, Scripture study, and reverent liturgical life.
  • Outreach to culturally diverse communities.
  • Development of sustainable volunteer leadership pipelines.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in theology, catechetics, pastoral ministry, education, or a related field preferred. Minimum three years of responsible experience in Catholic youth ministry, education, evangelization, campus ministry, or a related field.
