Job Description We seek a full-time and energetic priest to walk with us into our second century. Our next rector will be committed to inclusive welcome, preach from the heart and the lectionary, value and empower lay ministry, and connect the church to the wider community. Ascension is in an extended cycle of growth. Families with young children fill our spaces with life and joy. We benefit from a well-maintained and well-used campus but know that a capital campaign should take place in the next five years or so. Our finances are stable with room for growth. We have recent examples of extraordinary one-time giving and will focus more on planned giving in the future. A rector with experience and appetite for financial growth will feel at home. Our long history of firsts underscores a commitment to diversity. We were the first parish in the diocese to intentionally integrate, to elect a woman senior warden, and to sponsor an openly gay or lesbian candidate for priesthood. African, Afro-Caribbean, and African-Americans have enriched our life as clergy, leaders, preachers, and musicians. We will welcome a rector who helps build a culture of belonging for all who come. Ascension has strong lay leadership that and our next rector will steer and support but not need to control. This leadership includes a deep commitment to outreach.
