Job Description:
Little River Church in Belfast, Maine is seeking a Bi-Vocational Pastor, who is passionate about Christ, to lead our congregation. We are a Southern Baptist church established in the community for over 40 years. Our worship services consist of contemporary praise music and strong Biblical teaching. Here at Little River we reach others for Christ by living out the great commission through discipleship and biblical training. Our Vision statement is to be the family of God to our community one relationship at a time. The pastor's primary role will be prayer, and preaching God's Word. He will also be working with other elders in the church to define the direction the Lord is leading the church.
Job Purpose:
  • Responsible for the church to proclaim the Biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:16-20; Matthew 4:4)
  • Teach the Biblical revelation of His Word (2 Timothy 4:2; 1 Corinthians 3:11; Titus 1:9, 2:2; Acts 20:20 & 27)
  • Provide leadership of the congregation into a deeper more meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. (Titus 3:8, 1 Corinthians 14: 1-, Hebrew 6:1; Ephesians 4:13-16)
  • Work as a team to spiritually guide the church through plurality of Elders (demonstrated throughout the book of Acts in the early church)
Qualifications:
  • Born again believer; have a personal testimony of his personal conversion(John 3:1-21)
  • Must fulfill the Biblical qualifications for an elder(1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5:1-4)
  • Must be a male as defined in Genesis 1:27(1 Timothy 3;1-2)
  • Must have a high degree of personal spiritual maturity, reflecting the character of Christ in both his private and public life(1 Timothy 3:7)
  • Align with The Baptist Faith & Message 2000
  • Committed to integrity and accountability to those he serves(Acts 20:28; 2 Corinthians 11:2)
  • Have a clear desire to serve the Lord in Pastoral Ministry; Gifted by God to lead His church in spiritual growth(1 Corinthians 12;28)
  • A man who can rightly divide the Word of God(2 Timothy 2:15; Colossians 3:16)
  • Theological perspective that is conservative, and adherent to the inerrancy of the whole Word of God(2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Ability to communicate meaning and insight from the Scripture in a way that challenges a congregation and effectively leads to learning, understanding, and application(1 Corinthians 2:1-2)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the pastoral ministry or church leadership(1 Timothy 3:6)
  • Willingness to submit to and implement the by-laws and church constitution that is supported by the Word(1 Corinthians 1:10)
  • Have an evangelistic heart for the lost; able to lead by example(Matthew 9:35-37, Matthew 25:35)
Responsibilities:
  • Be a servant leader and be a model of that to the church(Hebrews 13:7, 1 Peter 5:3)
  • Prepare and deliver weekly sermons; your number one responsibility will be prayer and ministry of the word as described in Acts 6:4
  • Lead in observance of the ordinances of Baptism and Communion(Acts 10:47-48; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34)
  • Spiritual and Scriptural counseling(Proverbs 11:14; Proverbs 1:1-7, 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12)
  • Premarital counseling(Proverbs 15:22)
  • Officiate weddings and funerals
  • Work with Elders in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the direction God is leading His church(Acts 15:1-35; Acts 20:17-38)
  • Help church members realize their spiritual gifts and encourage them to use them to serve the local body(Ephesians 4:7-12)
  • Lead congregation to support missions, like the Cooperative Program local and worldwide(Acts 1:8)
  • Have a grace-oriented approach to doctrinal and theological issues, as well as areas of daily life and practice; not judgmental or legalistic, but frank with regard to essentials of the faith(Colossians 2:16-17; Matthew 7:1-; Philippians 3-11; Ephesians 4:1-6, Romans 15-1-4, 1 Thessalonians 2:7) Please submit the following to Sam Richardson at LRBCpastoralsearch@gmail.
