Lead Pastor

A Shared Calling Pursuit Church in Rockland, Maine, is prayerfully seeking a Lead Pastor who senses God's invitation to walk alongside a devoted church family and help shape what He is already doing in our midst. We are looking for a humble, Christ-centered shepherd—someone who loves people, teaches Scripture faithfully, and is eager to see lives transformed by the Gospel. Founded in 2017, Pursuit Church was planted with a simple but powerful desire to be a welcoming place for all. Our heart is to follow Jesus together, helping to build His Kingdom on earth, and living out the Good News through authentic worship, meaningful relationships, and compassionate service in our community. Pursuit Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and affirms The Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. The Opportunity The Lead Pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader and teacher of Pursuit Church. In partnership with our Guidance and Leadership Team (GLT), the pastor helps steward the vision, oversee ministry life, and guide the church forward with wisdom, humility, and faith. Key Areas of Ministry Preach and teach God's Word with clarity, depth, and grace. Lead weekly worship services, including Communion and Baptism. Offer pastoral care, encouragement, and appropriate counseling. Officiate at weddings, funerals, and special pastoral services as needed. Provide oversight and support for the day-to-day operations of the church. Disciple and develop future leaders and servants within the church. Encourage unity, faithfulness, and sustainable growth over time. Who We're Praying For Someone with a visible, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear call to pastoral ministry. Full theological alignment with the beliefs of Pursuit Church. Biblical character and spiritual maturity as described in Scripture for pastors and teachers. Training in pastoral ministry or theology (seminary education preferred). Prior ministry experience in a pastoral or leadership role. Compensation We are offering this as a full-time position. The total compensation package will be based on experience, education, and pastoral responsibilities, and will be reviewed during the interview process.
