Varies Part-Time Any Shift 16695-Administration 45141 Job Description Summary This position provides pastoral care and spiritual support to patients at the Medical Center while also ministering to the patients' families and hospital staff members. This position also provides a linkage between the Medical Center and the community. This position fosters an understanding of the relationship between faith, illness, and the emotional and mental conflicts that arise, and seeks to motivate and invite healthy, meaningful use of each individual's religious beliefs and attitudes in the management of his/her physical, emotional, and/or mental health. ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(40%)- Provides high quality, comprehensive pastoral care and spiritual comfort with special emphasis on listening ministry, grief work, and ethical decision-making; helping patients, families and staff identify and use their own unique personal and spiritual resources. (25%)
- Consults with physicians, nurses, social workers, and others, and participates with appropriate multidisciplinary teams regarding patient care. (25%)
- Provides sacramental or special Liturgical Services as requested by patients and families and/or staff. (10%)
- Assists clergy of all faiths in giving optimal spiritual care to patients and families of their own membership or denomination.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and maintains an on-call chaplain schedule for off-hours spiritual care needs. Develops standards for quality outcome measurement of spiritual care services to the served population. Provides in-service training, professional development, and other education programs for the staff and the community. Serves as liaison between the Medical Center and community churches. Demonstrates ability to minister with persons of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Ministers to the out-of-town or un-affiliated parishioner, upon request. Maintains client and office records and documents according to Medical Center policies and procedures. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Participates in the development and evaluation of a Medical Center Ethics Committee and actively participates in the Committee. Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies/procedures as evidenced by observation, documentation and peer feedback for the following: Infant- 0 to 1 year Toddler
- 1 to 4 years Child
- 5 to 12 years Adolescent
- 13 to 17 years Adult
- 18 to 64 years Later Adult
- 65 years and older.
MyMichigan Health Certifications and Licensures Certification:
Clinical Pastoral Education Required Equivalent Experience- Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with one year residency in a hospital based, certified program preferred.

Masters Degree Comments:
Knowledge of pastoral care and spiritual counseling as normally acquired through an undergraduate degree and a Master of Divinity from an accredited college and/or seminary. Three (3) years of parish pastoral experience or equivalent. Other InformationEDUCATION, TRAINING AND SKILLS
Ecclesiastical endorsement. Excellent written and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups, and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated marketing and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently while promoting teamwork. Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done annually according to MIOSHA (Michigan Occupational Safety Health Administration) standards. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.Physical Demand Level:
Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.Similar remote jobs
