KIDS PASTOR/LEADER
(Full-Time) // CROSSROADS CHURCH The Kids Pastor (licensed)/Leader (unlicensed) is a dynamic and relational leader responsible for cultivating a vibrant children's ministry (birth through 5th grade) at their campus. This role champions the recruitment, training, and care of volunteer leaders who will help children build a strong foundation of faith and experience the love of Jesus in age-appropriate and engaging ways. The Kids Pastor/Leader oversees all aspects of weekend and midweek programming, partners closely with families, and ensures a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for every child. As part of both the campus and central Crossroads Kids teams, the Kids Pastor/Leader contributes to pastoral leadership at the campus, ministry development, volunteer engagement, and overall ministry alignment. This role requires strong leadership, pastoral care, organizational skills, and a passion for helping children and families take meaningful next steps in their faith journey.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Oversight Lead weekend services, special events, and volunteer team meetings. Plan and schedule programming in advance to ensure consistency and preparedness. Ensure weekend services are developmentally appropriate, biblically sound, and effectively delivered. Assist in planning, executing, and pastoring CR Kids ministry strategies such as Child Dedications, Baptisms, CR Kids Family Nights, CR Kids Grown Up Nights, and other events. Volunteer Leadership & Development Recruit, interview, and onboard new volunteer leaders. Disciple and pastor volunteers in accordance with the CR volunteer culture and Multiplication Effect strategy. Maintain regular communication and provide ongoing support and recognition for volunteers. Ensure adequate volunteer coverage for all scheduled ministry times. Family Engagement & Spiritual Support Provide care and spiritual support for children and their families. Maintain a welcoming and relational environment for families attending CR Kids. Share resources and communicate regularly with parents to support discipleship at home. Program Execution & Improvement Create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging environment for children. Implement curriculum and activities that align with church values and biblical teaching. Evaluate programming regularly for effectiveness and make necessary adjustments. Campus Responsibilities Engage fully as a pastor/leader at the campus, participating in staff meetings, events and weekend services. Be a visible, pastoral presence within the campus community, stepping into care opportunities as they arise. Central Team Responsibilities Actively participate in weekly Kids Team meetings and central events. Contribute to kids curriculum preparation, teaching series, and quarterly Family Night event planning.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
Education 4-year bachelor's degree in related field or experience in Kids ministry is preferred. Pastoral Licensure required for pastoral title. Qualifications Highly Organized and skilled with time and task management. Work independently and collaborate with all teams Strong passion for kids discipleship. Skilled in volunteer recruitment, leadership, communication, and organization. Comfortable working evenings/weekends and engaging with families as appropriate. Awareness of/an agreement with the ECC (Evangelical Covenant Church) theology and practice. Environment Work is accomplished primarily indoors in office, classroom and ministry environments. Will require flexibility for extra hours during key seasons of ministry. Regular work schedule is Sunday through Thursday, with occasional Friday and Saturday responsibilities for ministry events and special programming. Physical Requirements Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and actively engage with children in children's ministry enviroments Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
