Cokers Chapel Bi-vocational Youth Minister Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Youth Minister will provide leadership and oversight for Cokers Chapel Youth Ministry in a way that leads the youth to a close, personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ with a strong desire to love and serve God and love their neighbors as they love themselves. The Youth Minister is supervised by the Senior Pastor and will coordinate all youth activities with the Senior Pastor and the Youth Committee.COMPENSATION
- Salary is for a part time or bivocational Youth Minister at $12,000 annually.
- Job performance will be reviewed annually or as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Youth Program- Lead and organize a spirit-filled, vibrant, outreaching and effective youth program for Middle School and High School students (7th grade to 12th grade).
- Encourage students to make a definite decision to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and encourage baptism.
- Ensure all youth activities are conducted in compliance with state and local laws, and Ministry Safe and Cokers Chapel requirements for 7th to 12th grade students.
- Recruit youth ministry volunteers and ensure they are adequately trained.
- Plan and promote and lead youth activities on Wednesday evenings during the school year and activities during the summer.
- Have a visible presence in the community and schools in support of the youth.
- Plan, with Church Board approval, and attend a youth summer camp or mission experience for the youth.
- Plan and promote all major events.
- Develop a yearly calendar of youth events.
- Ensure that facilities and vans are clean and in order after use.
- Provide counseling and guidance for youth group participants.
- Keep parents up to date on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages involvement.
- Keep the Senior Pastor and Youth Committee informed about all activities in advance of events.
- Hold Youth Committee meetings at least once a quarter.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor, and as requested by the Church Board and Council. 2. Sunday Morning Worship
- Encourage youth group members to attend and participate in Sunday Morning Bible Study and Sunday Morning Worship at Cokers Chapel.
- Lead a Sunday Morning Bible Study for the youth.
- Organize and lead a Youth Sunday once every two months.
- Assist in Sunday Morning Worship.
- Assist the Senior Pastor as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Agree with the beliefs and theology of Cokers Chapel, including the Cokers Chapel Wesleyan Beliefs and Social Benefits statements. Cokers Chapel is a non-denominational Church with Bible-based, conservative, Protestant beliefs.
- Possess a personal, growing relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior.
- Have a teachable spirit and a personal life that is above reproach.
- Have a strong desire to lead people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Demonstrate love and compassion for young people and their families.
- Desire to equip young people to successfully meet the challenges of life.
- Successfully pass a Background Check with a good driving record.
- Complete Ministry Safe Training at Cokers Chapel.
- Seminary training is desirable but not required.
