The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Summary:
The Chaplain Resident supports the medical center's commitment to caring for the whole patient by providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff while fulfilling the requirements for 3 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). They respond to all codes, traumas and deaths as the family support person. Proactively round on their assigned clinical units, educate and execute patient Advance Directives, and document all care given in the Electronic Medical Record.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master of Divinity or equivalent One prior unit of
Clinical Pastoral Education Preferred:
Excellent communication and pastoral/spiritual care skills High degree of emotional energy and mental alertness, and ability to deal with the stress of providing spiritual care to patients and loved ones who experience pain, suffering, death and grief Demonstrates organizational and decision-making skills Ability to handle multiple tasks Ability to utilize word processing programs
Scheduling Requirements:
Day Shift Rotating evenings, nights and holidays
Essential Functions:
Provide spiritual care to patients, families and staff Assess the spiritual needs of patients and families, and provide or arrange for spiritual care as needed Share in on-call responsibilities outside of regular business hours (i.e. Evenings, Nights, and Holidays) Support an interdisciplinary approach to care by participating in staff and team meetings, rounds, family meetings and other patient care conferences Respond to referrals in a timely manner Document care in EPIC and keep records of spiritual care activity to communicate with other members of the department/institution Participate in the total program of spiritual care in the hospital Educate and execute patient advance directives Serve on institutional committees as assigned Provide staff support in times of crisis Promote the interfaith/multi-faith nature of hospital chaplaincy Develop, coordinate and facilitate public worship or other observances appropriate to the diverse hospital setting and needs of the institution Conduct self at all times in the manner that reflects positively on the image of the medical center
