VNA Health Group is looking for a Spiritual Care Counselor Hospice to join our team — someone with a heart for healing, a listening ear, and a spiritual presence that brings peace and comfort during life's most meaningful transitions. This position will support patients and families across Essex County.
Responsibilities What You'll Do:
Provide compassionate spiritual counsel and emotional support to hospice patients and their families — both during care and in bereavement. Serve as a vital member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team, helping assess spiritual needs and contributing to the care plan. Offer rituals, prayer, and sacramental ministry as desired by patients and families, in a non-denominational, interfaith environment. Coordinate with community clergy and religious leaders to connect families with their faith traditions. Lead memorial or funeral services for families not affiliated with a church or spiritual leader. Participate in bereavement care and community outreach/education around hospice and spiritual care. Document care in accordance with Medicare and CHAP guidelines using our advanced digital tools. Qualifications What youBring:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Theology/Divinity or equivalent strongly preferred Ecclesiastical endorsement and good standing in a religious body (preferred) At least 3 years in active pastoral care ministry and 2 units of CPE required Experience supporting individuals through end-of-life transitions and grief Ability to work effectively within interfaith, non-denominational settings Strong interpersonal, counseling, and communication skills Valid NJ driver's license and auto insuranceWorking Conditions/Physical Demand :
Services are provided in the patient's home in a community or facility setting. In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $50,000 to USD $90,000. When determining an offer, VNA Health Group considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, education/training, relevant skills, internal pay equity, and market and organizational conditions. The total compensation range reflects the total package, including base salary, overtime, bonuses, add-on incentives, special clinical compensation, retirement plans, and all other benefits.
