The Family Ministry Discipleship Coordinator will help Liberty fulfill its mission to make wholehearted followers of Jesus by guiding the spiritual formation and discipleship of children and families with the love and truth of Jesus.
Reports to:
Next Generation Pastor Hours:
35-40 hours/week;
Sunday:
4-5 hours;
Monday-Thursday:
30 hours in office;
Flex:
5-6 hours Qualifications Five (5) years of relevant ministry experience, or an equivalent combination of seminary education, internships, and supervised ministry. Capacity to build positive relationships with parents, children, church staff, and the wider church community Maintain a Professional image and self-motivated to work collaboratively and independently while Supervising Volunteers and Staff Members Organizational skills Professional and self-motivated Strong written and verbal communication skills to manage and maintain relationships with peer groups, Pastoral Leadership, Church Members and Church Leaders Experience using Microsoft 365 programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook Willingness and ability to learn and effectively utilize the church's management platform (Church Center) in support of ministry operations Ability to take on support tasks outside of the formal job description and/or normal business hours when needed in order to contribute to the broader mission of the church Responsibilities Sunday Morning Ministry Leadership (Nursery-Grade 5) Provide leadership and oversight for Sunday morning children's programming and staff members who serve on Family Ministry Support volunteer teachers through guidance, prayer, and encouragement. Be a visible ministry presence for children and families on Sunday mornings. Evaluate and adapt programming based on participation and developmental needs. Curriculum & Faith Formation Work closely with the Next Generation Pastor to select curriculum. Implement and adapt curriculum for children and families on a weekly basis Equip volunteers to teach effectively and faithfully. Develop faith milestones and spiritual rhythms (e.g., Bibles, communion education, prayer practices). Collaborate with youth ministry to ensure continuity into middle school. Act as Sunday morning point person for youth Sunday school (6-8th grade), occasionally assisting in class as needed. Oversee operations as Vacation Bible School Director, with committee support and select annual curriculum Volunteer Leadership Training Recruit and train volunteers with an emphasis on calling and gifting alongside Operations Coordinator Provide ongoing support and feedback. Foster a healthy volunteer culture. Parent & Caregiver Partnership Equip parents as primary faith-formers. Provide resources and tools for faith at home. Communicate spiritual goals and themes (not logistics). Ministry Vision & Collaboration Work with the Next Generation Pastor on annual ministry goals. Coordinate with the Operations Coordinator to ensure strong operational support. Collaborate with worship and pastoral staff. Participate in staff meetings and planning throughout the week. Communicate weekly/monthly happenings to the Communications Coordinator to inform families and Church members of upcoming events and ways to get involved in the Church Attend and collaborate with Family Ministry leaders on a monthly basis (usually a once-a-month meeting) Create an annual Budget recommendation for Children's Ministry and oversight of current fiscal year budget financials
