Job Description

Summary:
The Director of Student Ministries is responsible for developing and leading a dynamic ministry for students in 6th grade through college-age, in alignment with St. Andrew s Community Church s vision to be a loving, caring, overcoming community of faith centered in a relationship with Jesus and mission of making disciples of Jesus.
Essential Functions:
Provide prayerful, visionary leadership for the overall function of student ministries, 6 th grade through college-age.
This includes:
Youth ministry responsibilities Develop and lead a dynamic Wednesday night worship and small group ministry. Develop and lead an interactive Sunday school to youth. Plan and lead annual camps, retreats and mission trips and fellowship opportunities for youth. Develop healthy relationships with youth and help them transition to the college-age ministry as they graduate from high school. Develop healthy relationships with parents as we partner with them to best disciple their children. Create a culture where lay ministers love to serve through accurately assessing needs and leading the development and implementation of ongoing and effective lay minister recruiting, placement, onboarding and training. Perform ongoing assessment of programs, procedures and systems to determine effectiveness and alignment. Plan and execute needed changes revealed by the assessments. Establish and execute a consistent & timely communication plan with parents and students by utilizing social media, digital and print forms. Work with the rest of the church staff to ensure the church is informed of youth ministry events. Ensure the youth ministry fits in and supports the overall discipleship pathway of the church. Prepare and oversee the ministry budget. Maintain a standard of careful stewardship and accurate budgeting. Connect with students outside of normal programming: attend sporting events, school lunches, recitals, etc. Work with youth ministry representative to create and submit monthly ADCO reports. Provide supervisory leadership and oversight of the youth ministry team, ensuring each member s consistent execution of vision, values, and programming to ensure the creation of a vibrant ministry environment for youth to learn and experience the gospel of Jesus on a weekly basis. Ensure curriculum is age-appropriate and teacher-friendly, edited to suit the needs of the youth and leaders, delivered in a timely and agreed upon schedule and consistent with St. Andrew s theology. Assist with confirmation annually. College-age ministry responsibilities Identify, recruit and develop healthy relationships with college-age students to encourage them to participate in the life of the church and grow in faith. Implement and lead Bible studies and discipleship classes for college-age students. Develop opportunities for fellowship for college-age students. Develop opportunities for missions for college-age students. Establish and execute a consistent & timely communication plan with college-age students and keep the church staff and congregation informed of what is going on in the college ministry. Create a culture where lay ministers love to serve through accurately assessing needs and leading the development and implementation of ongoing and effective lay minister recruiting, placement, onboarding and training. Perform ongoing assessment of programs, procedures and systems to determine effectiveness and alignment. Plan and execute needed changes revealed by the assessments. Ensure the college ministry fits in and supports the overall discipleship pathway of the church. Prepare and oversee the ministry budget. Maintain a standard of careful stewardship and accurate budgeting. Miscellaneous responsibilities Maintain a consistent presence during church events and programs, supporting leaders and other church staff as needed, interacting with church members and observing for needs and improvement. Attend regular staff meetings and other meetings, planning events, and enrichment events as scheduled. Ensure all adult leaders are Ministry Safe compliant.
Qualifications:
Strong Christian faith - love for God and love for people. Commitment to an ethical lifestyle appropriate for ministry and the core values of the church per employee handbook. Self-motivated to study and improve knowledge and skill in areas of responsibility. Ability to communicate clearly, effectively & timely through oral and written formats. Administrative and relational skills Efficient organizer and time manager Team player who is prompt and dependable Fiscally responsible Enthusiastic about church s mission Self-starter, takes initiative and teachable Previous ministry experience preferred

As is typical for ministry, this position requires a flexible schedule. It includes agreed upon onsite office hours, Sunday mornings, evening activities and meetings, and camps requiring travel.
