Director of Discipleship

Summary:

The Director of Discipleship leads the adult discipleship process at King Street Church, helping people grow from first-time guests into fully engaged followers of Christ while supporting the church's overall mission through teaching, collaboration, and pastoral leadership.

Director of Discipleship Definition and Purpose Statement:

The Director of Adult Discipleship is responsible to lead and participate in the discipleship pathways and processes of King Street Church, enabling all adults to move from first-time guests to fully committed partners and participants in the mission of Jesus Christ at King Street Church; and to support the overall mission of King Street Church through occasional preaching, ministry collaboration, and/or other pastoral duties.

Responsibilities:

In consultation with the Senior Pastor and under the direction of the Executive Pastor, the Director of Adult Discipleship will be responsible to: Cast a broad vision of discipleship, identifying and communicating relevant markers for adults growing in Christ; Recruit leaders into discipleship ministries that fit their gifts and skills; Design relevant discipleship ministries and leadership roles and select appropriate curriculum that fit King Street Church's context and congregation, serving existing needs and meeting relevant discipleship opportunities; Train and support leaders at various levels of proficiency to be effective disciple-makers; Identify and track relevant discipleship data, including participation in various discipleship venues and benchmarks for growth in discipleship; Foster and steward a culture of teamwork and appreciation among discipleship leaders

Current Ministries:

King Street Church has a rich tradition of adult discipleship venues that the Director of Discipleship will support and guide, including: Adult Sunday school classes, small groups, discipleship groups, "Grow in the Word" discipleship courses, Men's and Women's ministries, and Wednesday evening electives Young adult ministry (The Porch) Partnership (membership) classes Newcomer receptions

Qualifications:

Growing relationship with Jesus Christ Thorough knowledge of the Scriptures with a gift of teaching Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, and involve others in planning, decision-making, implementation, and leading leaders. Effective communicator/teacher Master's degree preferred in a relevant field from an accredited seminary 5 years of full-time experience In agreement with and will adhere to the Governing Documents of the United Brethren in Christ denomination

Accountability:
