office@provchurch.net to submit your resume. Your Position… The role of the Student Ministry Director (SMD) is to oversee "bridges" to the 6th-12th grade students of Providence Church. The SMD will work within the overall framework of Family Ministry to develop a ministry team with a mission to build bridges to students and their families both in our church and in the surrounding communities. These bridges will include opportunities for students to worship, connect, and serve. Responsibilities 1. Work in Alignment with Providence Church Staff. By taking a collaborative, team approach to ministry, we eliminate "silos" and enhance each other's gifts as we serve together.
  • Work under the overall framework of Family Ministry (Seeing the "Family" as the primary source of discipleship)
  • Collaborate with the Children's Ministry Director and other staff for ministry
  • Work with Office Administrator to ensure all volunteers are trained and approved on church policies and procedures 2.
Leadership of Volunteer Teams. Success in this role will be best accomplished by prioritizing an investment in ministry leaders who, in turn, influence the students.
This includes:
  • Recruiting new volunteers
  • Training volunteers on ministry specific mission/vision as well as church policies and procedures
  • Caring for volunteers beyond just their role in the ministry 3. Oversight and Execution of Student Ministry Programs, Activities, and Events. We treat every opportunity we have to connect with students and their families as a bridge that brings them closer to Jesus.
  • Sunday School. Organize and oversee curriculum, teaching, and volunteers.
  • Mid-Week. Oversee teams of volunteers to lead ministry to both Middle & High School students.
  • Activities & Events. Use creative, fun, and engaging events as additional ways to "build bridges".
  • Conferences & Trips. Initiate special events that present opportunities for deeper growth and discipleship.
  • Serving & Missions. Engage students in opportunities to take their faith beyond the walls of the church to impact their local communities and beyond. 4. Oversee "The Landing" (12-17 yrs.) ministry of Celebrate Recovery. At The Landing we initiate space for students to process their hurts, habits, and hang-ups in a Christ-centered way.
  • Recruit volunteers to serve weekly
  • Review curriculum and teaching topics
  • Work alongside CR leadership to ensure practices and procedures are consistent with the overall ministry 5. Pursue Ongoing Opportunities for Spiritual Growth and Service Outside of Weekly Programming for Students.
  • Student Leadership Team
  • Students actively involved in serving in the church and community
  • Students engaged in school activities, clubs, initiatives that match our vision/values 6. Cultivate Strong Partnerships in Which to Support, Encourage, and Equip Parents & Families of Students.
  • Work alongside Family Ministry Team to initiate ministry specific teaching, training, and support to families of 6-12th grade students
  • This may include seminars, trainings, events, and providing up to date resources
Qualifications:
Personal Faith & Beliefs:
  • The Student Ministry Director must profess to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is confirmed by his/her outward lifestyle. (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
  • If married, the Student Ministry Director must have a healthy relationship with his/her spouse and children and have their support for involvement in this ministry.
  • The Student Ministry Director's doctrinal beliefs must be compatible with the doctrines of Providence Church (He/she must become a member).
  • The Student Ministry Director's "mission and vision" for ministry must align with the mission and vision of Providence Church. Skills & Abilities
  • Active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude and behavior.
  • Basic working understanding of Student Ministry and the administrative oversight required to keep a ministry running.
  • A passion to see students & families engaging with God's Word beyond the ministries and developing family discipleship in their homes.
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
Competency with basic computer software and a willingness to learn new platforms required for the job.
Compensation Plan:
Full-time salary position with expected weekly hours. Compensation is determined by the elders based on experience and education.
