Job Description

UPMC Northwest is excited to introduce a Chaplain role to the hospital, offering a meaningful opportunity to help build and shape spiritual care services for our patients, families, and staff. The Chaplain will provide compassionate, inclusive support and play a key part in creating a comforting and healing environment for those we serve. Responsibilities Provide timely spiritual care visits to patients and families based on daily assignments and identified needs. Communicate the spiritual care services available within the hospital and guide individuals in accessing support. Assess and screen the spiritual or emotional needs of patients, families, and staff, offering direct support or coordinating additional resources when appropriate. Participate in on‑call coverage as needed. Plan and support occasional liturgical, spiritual, or seasonal observances in collaboration with hospital leadership. Contact a patient's personal clergy or faith representative upon request and assist in coordinating visits. Document patient interactions according to hospital and departmental standards. Set annual goals with the director and meet periodically to review progress and growth. Complete continuing education activities aligned with department expectations and personal development goals. Assist hospital leadership with administrative tasks related to spiritual care.
