Job Description

Position Summary:
The Church Administrator provides administrative, operational, and relational leadership to the church's ministries, staff, volunteers, and congregation. This role ensures that church operations run smoothly, members and guests are connected and cared for, and membership systems, lay leadership development and financial records are maintained with excellence.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Stewardship & Financial Administration:
Support the church's stewardship and financial processes through accurate recordkeeping and administrative coordination. Record and track giving, pledges, and designated gifts. Process deposits and ACH transfers Maintain accurate donor and financial records. Support logistics for annual stewardship campaigns and quarterly giving statements. Support Share Omaha, Giving Tuesday and other church fundraising efforts. Coordinate with accounting partners and support ministry staff payroll, PTO, and contractor payments.
Membership, Hospitality & Congregational Engagement:
Help create a welcoming and connected community by supporting guest engagement, membership processes, and volunteer involvement. Welcome and follow up with guests, members, and community partners. Track attendance and identify opportunities for pastoral follow-up. Support membership pathways, spiritual formation opportunities, and ministry connections. Maintain membership records and church database systems. Manage staff compliance with Safe Gatherings policies and procedures. Foster relationships through communication, hospitality, and volunteer engagement.
Administration & Ministry Support:
Provide administrative and operational support for worship, communications, events, and facility readiness. Respond to inquiries and coordinate communication across ministries. Support weekly worship services, worship guide creation and volunteer coordination. Back-up facebook live for worship and events. Manage the weekly church e-newsletter and other ministry communications. Ensure facilities, supplies, and ministry resources are prepared and available. Assist with special events, seasonal services, weddings, funerals, and community outreach activities. Support staff meetings, board preparation, and denominational reporting twice a year. Care for other duties as assigned

Qualifications Strong organizational and administrative skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail. Proficiency with office software, databases, and digital communication tools. A commitment to hospitality, collaboration, and the justice-seeking mission of the Urban Abbey United Methodist Church. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a church, nonprofit, educational, or community-based organization. Familiarity with donor databases, membership systems, and volunteer coordination. Experience supporting financial administration and event planning.
Scope and Range of Decisions:
The employee has the ability to make independent decisions in his/her area of ministry that align with the vision, mission, values and initiatives of the Urban Abbey. Coordinates with the Founding Pastor and carries out duties with broad direction provided by the pastor. Work Conditions, Physical Activities and Characteristics Work is performed indoors at Urban Abbey. This person may be able to work from home one or two days a week. The person in this position must have the ability to transport themselves and needed materials to and from Urban Abbey for outreach at other churches and supply purchasing.
Pay:
$50,652.00 - $65,000.00 per year
