  • Full-time Overview The Director of NextGen & Campus Ministries serves as a compassionate role model, spiritual leader, and advocate for youth, college students, and young adults.
This position cultivates vibrant ministries through relationship-building, discipleship, leadership development, community engagement, spiritual care, worship, service, and creative programming.
The Director serves both:
  • the ministries of Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church (ABUMC), and
  • the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry connected with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Duties:
Campus Ministry Responsibilities Maintain an active and visible presence on and around the UW-Oshkosh campus. Build authentic relationships with students through hospitality, conversation, spiritual support, and community engagement. Coordinate regular gatherings for worship, fellowship, discussion, service, and spiritual formation. Encourage and mentor student leaders. Collaborate with UWO's Student Engagement & Campus Life team and other campus organizations, ministries, and community partners. Utilize social media and digital communication to connect with students and promote ministry opportunities. Support students in exploring vocation, faith, justice, and compassionate leadership. Encourage participation in service opportunities and mission experiences. Provide regular updates to the Wesley Foundation/Campus Ministry Board regarding ministry activities, goals, needs, and emerging opportunities. Youth Ministry Responsibilities CoordinateCoordinate ministries with middle school and high school youth at ABUMC. Serve as a role model and spiritual leader for youth within the church and community. Build relationships with youth and families through presence, communication, encouragement, and pastoral care. Plan and lead educational, social, service, and faith formation opportunities that help youth deepen their relationship with God. Organize and oversee youth mission trips, retreats, and service experiences. Recruit, equip, support, and encourage volunteers working with youth ministries. Review and select curriculum and faith formation resources. Encourage and support youth participation and leadership in worship services and congregational life. Coordinate youth fundraising activities connected to service and mission opportunities. Utilize social media and digital communication to engage youth and families. Serve as an advocate for youth, helping the congregation better understand the hopes, concerns, questions, and gifts of young people in the church and community. Shared Ministry Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the pastor and ministry leaders in shaping the vision for NextGen and campus ministries. Foster meaningful intergenerational relationships within the congregation. Encourage youth and young adults to participate fully in worship, mission, leadership, justice ministries, and community life. Participate in worship leadership and congregational life as appropriate. Maintain healthy communication with students, youth, families, volunteers, church leadership, and the campus ministry board. Manage ministry schedules, communication, calendars, and basic administrative responsibilities. Maintain appropriate confidentiality, healthy boundaries, and Safe Sanctuary practices. Participate in continuing education and ministry development opportunities.

Foster meaningful intergenerational relationships within the congregation. Bachelor's degree preferred.
